    I have never seen a 70cc with rpm meter and I don't think you can have one on a CD70 because the cables should have a link to the engine so you can get the rpm count and since that system is not available on CD70 I am not sure if you can have it done. Or is it possible EXPERTS??

    dear dyl 70 manual states that attach techometer to adjust the idle setting at 1000-1500 rpm... so it does have provision ...u can download its manal and check the info regarding adjusting idle speed.

    @tech20
    The pictures are not clear. I cannot make sure if it is an electronic tachometer or a mechanical one. Please take clear pictures of the back of meter and post here.

    The only way it can be fitted to a CD70 is that its an electronic tachometer and does not require a dedicated connection. Only in that case, one of the wires connects to another wire that has a clamp at the other end which is put around the spark plug and the other to ground. Personally I have never seen such a tachometer.

    A tachometer(RPM meter) is a device to measure the number of rotations per minute (RPM) and has several types. Even fan manufacturers have a tachometer that has a rubber cup at one end which is pressed against the center of the fan and it gives the RPM of the running fan.

    @asjdsm
    For setting the idle speed in motorbikes which do not have tachometers, the mechanics use an electronic tachometer which connects to the spark plug lead and it gives the RPM based on the number of electricity pulses going through the wire. A similar, more common device is used to set the timing of the spark, called a timing gun, which gives a flash of light when the current passes through the spark plug lead.

    All bikes manufactured in Pakistan which do have tachometers, have the mechanical type which uses a cable similar to the speedometer cable, no electric/electronic connections except for the wires to the light bulb.

    I dont think that there is any place for the cable of the RPM metre in a CD 70
    I,ve seen Master 70,s with RPM meters but they were the digital ones.
    By digital I mean the impulses were electronic but the meter was the needle one.
    I tested that bike but it was no fun as the RPM needle response was slow.
    It was so slow that when you rev the bike and leave the accelerator, the RPM needle then moves upwards.
    One of the most difficult things in the world is to know how to do something, and to watch without comment, somebody else do it incorrectly.

    Dear, The tachometer in pics seems an electronic one as there is an electronic circuit clearly visible and this sure is not for a small bulb. You can find more detail by checking out the meter of HABIB HB 100 motorcycle. HABIB HB 100 has similar electronic tachometer without traditional revolving cable. (I mean, it gets reading by some electronic system and then an analog meter shows it). I am not sure but you may checkout the Super Power 100cc tachometer too (just check that if there is any revolving cable beneath the tachometer or not) as both HB100 and Super Power 100cc are almost identical except the self start in HB 100. Tachometer in HABIB HB 100 is not slow and works fine.

    Since there is neither a gear nor a place in engine casing for mechanical tachometer cable connection so you made the right decision to buy an electronic one. Now bring this meter to a good electrician and if he fails to understand the provided connections then try to let him check out the tachometer of HABIB HB 100 for a good idea.

    Its sourced off the ignition coil negative - the same pole coming from the CDI unit, The other is the power source..

    These meters are slow as the CD70 uses an oldschool magento electric system which makes the meter respond slower than me in the mornings.. Unlike bigger bikes which are built like car electrics - coming through a battery and rectifier, more current, more accurate response

    I couldn't complete the previous post, because of voltage fluctuation I just posted whatever I had written.
    Edit: The power went out when I was writing this and Xulfiqar's post was not showing when I resumed.

    The normal digital/electronic tachometers get the input from a connection at the processor/electronics and some provision for the meter is there.

    In CD70 neither a dedicated electronic connection is available nor a mechanical one. So the only option is an electronic meter that clamps(or connects to) the ignition cable or circuitry, like the mechanics' tachometer. And I have not seen a meter like that fitted on a bike, yet.
    Edit: as Xulfiqar wrote it is that kind of meter, guess I should start looking at Chinese bikes gadgetry.

    @targetplayer
    I will try to look for the bikes you mentioned on my next trip to Rawalpindi or Lahore. <snip>

    I did see some after-market meters, which I would like to share. I have heard that on eBay they have a much lower price on some of these items, but don't know about delivery in Pakistan.

    ^^ These meters are very very rare,
    I only saw one on a Master 70 at my mechanics,
    It was the electronic one and the response was damn slow.

    @ all
    i ve new asia Na 70 cc bike , which came with such a meter
    the meter is an electronic one and its response is far better than the mechanical ones in cg 125,
    its very quick and respond exactly according to throttle , peak rpms for a 70 cc are 11500 to 12000
    when ur on 80 km /h, rpms are touching 10,500
    also all the cars which have tachometer uses the electronic one and their response is very quick

    3 days back I've installed HID light on my Honda CD70 from Mecleod Road Lahore, and there is a shopkeeper told me that a speedometer with techometer (electronic type) available wich also tells about gears status on meter. he told me the price for that meter about Rs.950/- which can be installed on CD70.
