Smile Need some suggestions on my new Honda CD 100.

    As'salam-u-Alaikum all.

I am a brand-new user of this forum. I came across it while searching for discussions on different bikes available in the Pakistani market. I was confused between buying a Honda CD 100 or Yamaha Junoon.

Thanks are due to your valuable discussions that helped me choose Honda CD 100. I am much satisfied and happy with my buy, Alhamdu Lillah. I was looking for pick, speed, comfort, and economy. I found all this, and the extra height, in my new bike.

I bought it on 08-09-2010. I have already done 100 km on it.

Now I need some suggestions on the following:

1- The fuel I should use for it, plus the hi-octane ratio to use.

2- The speed and routines I should follow while the engine is under the "running" period.

3- The engine oil to use.

4- Any other suggestions that you find appropriate for its smooth and efficient running.

Thank you for your valuable inputs.

PS: I will post its pictures soon, Insha Allah.

    Congrats !! Good choice....
1 - You don't need to use high octane fuel in a 100cc bike and specially Pakistan assembled !!
2 - Speed limit is 60 km/hr in running period, Don't over accelerate it in a particular gear.
    3 - I use Castrol GTX.
4 - Get it tunned time to time, change the engine-oil before 1000 km.
    5 - Ride safely.

@lahoreboyz: Well, yes, I find CD 100 better than Yamaha Junoon.

@ssamm86: Thank you. Can you elaborate on why hi-octane should not be used in 100cc bikes? I read in different posts that engines love hi-octane fuel as it boosts their performance and maintains them well.

Brother Hi-Octance wer NEVER meant for bikes. However you can use a mixture of 0.5L : 2L (Hi-Octanceuper), but ONLY if you think you got a Ghatiya Quality fuel from somewhere and its messing up your engine.

I've heard many people praising Hi-Octane to use it in CG-125, and you will get good fuel average blah blah blah blah. But the fact is, it MIGHT add a few horse power to a More Poweful engine (Talking about bigger engines, cars etc not bike's), but it wont give you a good fuel consumption ... no way. And its generally used in engines having more compression ratio.
Compression ratio refers to the volume, or amount, of an air and fuel mixture that the combustion chamber in a combustion engine can hold when it is empty and at its largest size compared to the volume it holds when the mixture is compressed down to the smallest size possible.
And our bikes' engines are max 150CC and we blindly run toward Hi-Octane.

    ^ Oh I forgot to tell ...
Please choose a Good Fuel Station even if its far from your high, and use only Shell ... and not every shell you find everywhere, just restrict yourself to a couple of Specific Fuel Stations , which you can judget as per Consumers' Reviews, and if that does not help ... Ask Mechanics about any Trustable Good enough Fuel Station in, near or outside your area.
And why you should choose only a Trustable one, because MOST of the fuel stations' fuel is not good enough to pay the price.
Like for instance, i live in Badami Bagh, and i only use TWO SHELL Fuel Stations. One is near BATTI CHOWK, and the 2nd is the one at MUSLIM TOWN MORR near Wahdat Road. The 2nd one is the one i prefer the most, because their fuel is much better than i find on any other fuel station.

And if you are thinking about How to judge if you got better fuel. Then dont be afraid, the bike itself will tell you whether or not it got a good fuel in it. (yes the bike wont speak from its mouth ... if it has it ... j/k)

1- The fuel I should use for it, plus the hi-octane ratio to use.
    No need for High Octane,
    The regular fuel is good,
Moreover High Octane is ot available at every station.

2- The speed and routines I should follow while the engine is under the "running" period.
    Avoid doubling,
Avoid reving it to high RPM,s in each gear, Try to shift to next gear at low RPM,s
Avoid going to hilly areas and observe the speed limit during the running period.

3- The engine oil to use.
Castrol and Caltex Havoline are good but if you can afford GTX Magnetic then go for it.
    Petromin is also very good.

4- Any other suggestions that you find appropriate for its smooth and efficient running.
Complete the running period within the speed limit and with proper gear shifting.
Dont push it too hard in any gear.
Change first engine oil at 500km.
One of the most difficult things in the world is to know how to do something, and to watch without comment, somebody else do it incorrectly.

I am also of the opinion that Shell's fuel is good. Before I used Shell, the drive was a bit jerky. But after using Shell, the drive has smoothed out. (Now I don't know if that was due to fuel or something else). Well, I pass from Muslim Town Morr regularly, so I am definitely going to get my bike fueled from there from now onwards.

Thank you very much for your valuable suggestions. And no, I'm not going for Hi-octane anymore

PS: You can post as much as you want, I'll try to digest it slowly and slowly (Reply to "Mera khayaal hay itna he kafi hay")

Brother, by 100 km, I meant total mileage so far. As soon as its running period is over, I am definitely going to accelerate it further.

I'll let you know of the results, Insha Allah.

Lol... people ask same questions again n again... lol! m obsessed with helping em..

Well dude congrats on ur purchase!

    1. DOnot use hi-octane in it or any mixing with regular petrol, its not a mercedez or BMW tht requires hi-octane u just need regular petrol.. 4 sake of Good God gracious have pitty on ur new engine, u ill ruin it.. hi-octane is v.dry fuel as compared to regular petrol, ur bikes engine wud b affected specially during running period.

    2. For the first 150Kms try goin as slow and as smooth as possible, try not to cross 40Km/Hr, for the rest of 850 Kms try stayn below 50Km/hr.

    3. Use any engine oil as far as ur sure the dealer is providing u with original oil.. not do number! Changing it on time matters.. 1000Kms sharp.

    4. Get ur inside of rims and front mudgaurd compounded.

    5. regularly wash ur bike urself at home, donot use detergent, use car/bike washing shampoos, polish ur bike with any good wax.. Kiwi, cosmic, formula 1, turtle etc.

    6. Do get a good quality wire lock 4 her.

    7. For the warranty period take it to the Honda dealers only.. !

    Cheers

Thank you for your expert inputs. Please recommend a few of "there are many better ones around" fuel stations for the general benefit of us all.

And I am not going for hi-octane now. I have already done doubling, little tripling, and took it to 50 km/h (riding alone) . It's hardly completed 150 km yet.

It is performing very well so far, Alhamdu Lillah. I wish, hope, and pray it continues to improve with every passing moment of her life.

The one at Girja chowk is the PSO one.
Shell one is a bit away from main Girja chowk.

Please excuse me guys for not being able to upload my CD 100's pictures yet. My internet connection has been down since the last few days. I will, Insha Allah, upload the pictures tonight.

And thank you very much for your replies and anticipation to see my new ride

I have already done around 230 km on my new HONDA CD 100. I am anticipating a tuning as I hit the 300 km mark. Any practices I should follow when I get my ride tuned? And please name the best HONDA Antenna dealer who I should approach for tuning. My criterion for best is:

1- No "thoka thaaki". Meaning, every single nut-bolt that needs to be opened/closed should be opened/closed with proper instruments and tools, not with a hammer and a screw-driver :-P

2- Mechanics are well-versed in their job and know exactly how to work on a HONDA CD 100, in particular. NO EXPERIMENTATION!

    @Automotorsport_Lover

The Mughalpura Shell is easy for me to approach. A lot more easier would be Shimla Paharri Shell. And man, I used Shell from a random fuel station (the one at Dharampura) and I found it way better than PSO. With Shell, there is no missing or jerks during the ride. Unfortunately, I had to fill my ride's fuel tank with PSO because that was the only fuel station I found that was dispensing as much fuel as customers demanded - all the rest were giving fuel worth Rs. 50 or 100 only :-(

Moreover, guys I need your comments on Caltex. I have been using Caltex in my elder bike (Ravi, 70 CC), it gives me an aweeeeesome mileage. I couldn't gauge the fuel's quality in terms of its smoothness since it's an old bike now (new bikes respond to changes in fuel much better than older bikes, this is what I think). I also heard that with Caltex's TECHRON technology, the engine remains cleaner. Guys, what have you got to say about it?
