Lightbulb Honda Pridor Foam Type Air Filter Cleaning & Oiling

My Pridor has covered 5300kms and it was the time of it's3rd tuning.
But I am totally fed up off the HATHORA Mechanics and was deciding to tune mybike my self. Tuning a bike, a major part is to clean the Air Filter Foam onthe guidelines provided by AHL.

So on experimental basis for this purpose as a first step in tuning, I decidedto clean the air filter element (foam type).

I purchased the following things:

1. SAE 90 GEAR OIL of Rs. 30/-
2. 1/2 LITER Kerosine Oil Rs.60/-
3. Four Double A paper sheets Legal Size

I was really impressed by the D.I.Y on the link given below introduced by bro@amjad635 on Pakwheels.

http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/do-yourself/25166-foam-type-air-filter-cleaning-oiling-1080p-hd-video.html
As i have already elaborated that it is on experimentalbasis so no pics for this D.I.Y. Inshallah in the next D.I.Y. the detailed picswill also be uploaded for your interest. Now we proceed towards our goal i.e.Foam Type Air Filter Cleaning & Oiling:

1. I parked my Pridor on main stand and opened the left side cover (tappa). There is a cover with 05 nuts on the way to access the air filter foam. Thefive nuts may be unscrewed with a flat shaped screw driver.

2. Opened the cover and found the Air filter, removed itas it is without any screws so it may be removed and fixed directly without helpof any tool.
3. After removing the dirty filter, cleaned the insidecover box of Air filter and removed all the dust with a clean cloth.
4. Fixed the box cover with 5 nuts to avoid any dust ordamage to that area.
5. Now remove both of the foams, Take a bowl or some openmouth utensil, pour some kerosene Oil on both of the foam one by one and putyour effort with soft hands to wash it. Remember, don't use petrol on the foam(as the AHL Service center guys always do) it will damage the foam density andyou will never get such original foam from the market. You will see the keroseneoil will get black and small particles of dust can be seen on the bottom of theutensil.
6. Then I put both of the foams in a hanger and put it insunlight for proper drying. It took around four hours to dry.
7. I poured SAE 90 Gear Oil on the foams. When the oil fused into the foams completely then I startedskewing it to get the oil out from the foams one by one.
8. When I judged that the oil has been completely goneout of foams then I pressed the foams gently on the sheets of papers for moredrying it. Finally I got the air filter foams with fresh look and ready to install. Now we proceed for other portions of tuning.
The Pick and Power has increased amazingly with asatisfaction that it will give me a better drive ever.
In the upcoming days hopefully I will post new D.I.Y. about Tappet Adjustment of my Pridor.

patrol is totally unrecommended for cleaning foam type air filter

Racer bro excellent move by you, mashAllah very accurately done
its much better if we learn these daily routine motorcycle maintenance work
& do ourself instead of getting this done from unexperience so called USTAAD log
cleaning air filter of bike is not a big deal infact as a biker i enjoy doing it
i clean my bikes airfilter with kerosene oil only but inshAllah will also use Gear oil this time
bro i give only few mintues to foam for drying aur uski baad haath par maarta ho filter ko
bro 4hours contineous sun light par faom ko rakhna, i feel kahe sun damage na kare foam ko
what do you think Racer bro i may be thinking wrong, waise Ahl recommends to dry airfitler before
dipping it into gear oil
and yes bro when air filter is cleaned of bike
bike gives good pleasure in riding pick aur response acha feel hota hai bike ka

no need to go for tuning those mechnic will ruin the all the genuine setting of Bike... specially if you end up at a 'HATHORA' mechninc shop... if you clean the filter and change oil in time you dont need a tuning just find some reasonable mechnic who has some repo in CG Riders ... and only get you tappets setting only and ask if you need any adjustment in Fuel if he says no fuel is proper from Carb dont touch the carb only drain it after tapping it a little to clear out any 'Kachra' in side.. thats it...

I never got my bike tuning sh*t thats just a waste of money on 4-stoke bikes... becuase thay only need regualr oil change and Filter cleaning ... even tappets go bad after long time if used like a "Banday ka puter"

^righto .... hathora mechanic is the only reason i hvn't gone for tuning ... i hv very bad experience of these hathora mechanics with my previous 70 ... i am changing the oil after 1000km and so far no issue in bike ..petrol avg. is good too.. even the tappets are fine as i don't speed the bike harshly... it's perfect in stock condition ..now i think its air filter needs cleaning

Cleaning with petrol is harmful for tissues of the foam as well as it may creat explosion but the first reason is more valid. As far as the gear oil is concerned it stops the dust particles which are very little and provides more purified air.

But bro unfortunately the mechanics don't do this as they have no excessive time and labor and the customers like us have to bear the results in the form of short air filter's foam life, more wear & tear of engine due to dust particles and consecutive oil change in short spans.

Bro i think the four stroke bikes don't demand more only the thing is that we should change oil with healthy intervals as well as keep an eye on the valve position by opening the side cover of the bike, if the tappets need to adjust then should do it. Also chain adjustment, throttle, cluth adjustments along with cleaning of plug should be closely examined after every 2000kms and there is njo need of mechanics.

Very nice Vicky bhai ap to bas chha gayey hein. Ap ne bohat acha tareeqey se tuning ko explain ker diya hai. I think we all the bikers who have some interest in maintaining our bikes should concentrate on these steps to save money and time with hassel to visit the mechanics.

Good Work
Thanks all of you brothers

This is totally new to me that Kerosene oil can be used for foam cleaning, otherwise I have seen all AHL Authorized Centers using Normal Petrol and Normal Oil over it
