    Default Honda 125 drinks the lubricant

    Friends;

    My brother has Honda 125 Delux model 2009. He has been facing a problem for last two oil changes that very less quantity of oil drains from engine while their is no smoke comes out from silencer. Normally if there is some problem with bike's ring piston then smoke comes out which is the sign that lubricant is burning also but here neither the smoke comes out nor any kind of leakage. He uses Havoline oil. What could be the reason?

    Nothing to be worried about Pathetic oil quality or fake one try to switch to other brand like ZIC, SHELL. Must be bought from their genuine retailer

    respected sir thats may be the only reason do check high rpm if there is smoke go for a thicker oil because in case you have high rpm smoke there might be still time to save the rings other wise oil is not genuine

    IMHO there is a very good chance ....... lets say above 70% chance that the culprit is the oil itself. When 50% of the oil sold in this country is fake....... you are bound to end up with it some day.

    Another reason could be "Blue Smoke"..... its harder to detect than white smoke you usually get with fried piston rings. Google Blue smoke and how to detect it.

    @signode ! If its a fault of Piston Rings then your bike should give you Blueish White colored Smoke. Its not visible when engine is cold, or running at low RPM (unless the condition is extreme). So take the bike out for a ride until engine heats up. Then give the bike full throttle. Smoke will be quite visible, if its a problem of piston rings.

    Second issue could be of oil itself. Havoline is the number 1 oil in fake oils category (because its the most selling brand in PK), so chances are that your brother is putting in fake engine oil without knowing it. I don't know how we can differentiate between fake or original oil but if you buy from trusted sources, then chances are very much reduced.

    Mechanic shokeen hoga... werna haath ka istemaal zaroori nahi.......albatta aankh ka istemaal kafi ehem hai blue smoke check kernay k liye.

    Jo thori buhat knowledge aur experience hai..... blue smoke is NOT caused by weak piston rings...... jab ring ka kaam hota hai engine me tow white smoke hoga hai. Blue smoke is caused when valve seals have wore out and causing oil to drip into the combustion chamber. Thanday engine mein zaida araam se blue smoke dekh jata hai.

    They use the hand to "SMELL" the burning oil. Its easy to detect when its difficult to see the smoke coming from exhuast.

    Another indication would be to check for "Wet Carbon" in exhuast. (*meant for mohsinwahhab*). Sweep your finger inside the Exhaust hole if your bike, and inspect the carbon under your Headlight. If you find the "shining" particles in it then it will indicate Wet Carbon, which would be the result of Engine Oil burning.

    In either case, changing Piston Rings is necessary. Otherwise, it won't be long before the bike would start asking for another head opening.

    Its also advised to get the whole head re-done, which would include Piston, Piston Rings, Valves, Valve Seals etc ... otherwise your Piston Rings won't last more than 6-8 months before asking for replacement again. (common problem in CG125)
