Default Honda Unicorn 160cc bike price starts at Rs 63,695

ENGLAND: Honda, the Japanese bikemaker, is all set to roll out new Unicorn 160 in the Indian market soon. Actually, the bike has earlier reached Honda dealerships across the nation and bookings have also been started for the bike. The new 160cc bike is priced at Rs. 63,695 (ex-showroom, Delhi) which means the on-road Delhi price will be around Rs. 70,000, confirms a Delhi-based dealer.
The new model of the bike features a more modern design and is expected to share its design and components with the CB Trigger. The bike features a muscular tank with shrouds accommodating the 3-D Honda logo. The three fins on the side panels look very identical to the two fins found on the CB Trigger. Moreover, the pillion footrests too have been directly lifted from the Trigger.
The rear-end of the bike looks completely new with the ?H? design tail-lights and an LED unit. Switch gear, handles, digital instrument cluster and few other features also look similar to the ones found on the CB Trigger. The bike is powered by a 160cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that is good for 14bhp.

They have power in numbers. The buyers there are much more aware and conscioue about what they buy. They have tv programs that review cars and bikes, so competition is tough for manufacturers. Here we dont have such a thing, so masses remain delusional and keep buying outdated crap. Because the market over there is so big and diverse manufacturers have more offerings. Here just the poor, lower middle class get bikes and AHL knows this customer very well. To commute by bike is considered insane once u move to the middle class, so there arent enough buyers getting somewhat premium bikes, hence no such bikes exist.

Old post. Lots of misconceptions which I'd like to clear-out.
FIRST: This bike isn't Japanese, per se. It's made by HMSI under licence from Honda. It's manufactured LOCALLY!
Second: Indian currency is over twice as much stronger than PKR. Keep in mind that over there, basic salary is 3-4,000 rupees, whereas here it's atleast 7-8,000. So, basically the same thing. India isn't living the dream. Well, atleast our dream!
THIRD: Supply & demand. Indian population is well over 1,100 Millions whereas ours is "JUST" (That's a BIG JUST) 160 Millions. More population = More consumers = More sales, simple as that. So, they can sell more bikes at less price to generate revenues and keep their products prices attractive. Unlike here where manufacturers sell less bikes at high price. It's a business strategy that's vastly dependent on population.
FOUR: WHAT A RIDICULOUS NAME FOR A BIKE... Might as well name it: PONY! Or HORSEY! Sheesh.....
