Exclamation Santro Blue Smoke in morning

My santro 2003 model, starts giving blue smoke in the morning and after few minutes it became normal. No prob in startup or any other issues. Milage is also fine. A very minimal amount of oil is reduced after driving it 1500 KM.

A local mechanic suggests that it is valve issue, and is not so critical to get it solved. He suggest to use the car as it is since it doesnot starts eating up oil, then u can get rings and valves replaced.

Any advice from the xperts would be highly appreciated.

There are two options for you man.

1: keep it as it is and take a 20w-50 Mineral oil (dont use 5w-x or 10w-x) only 20w-50, keep it till the car start giving smoke continuously so at that point you will open the engine at once and replace its valve seals and rings etc, so you will do a KHARCHA at once. the amount of oil decreasing will be reduce by using 20W-50 better you use ZIC as its API is SM.

2: change the valve seals which will cost you something like that.
Rs. 400 for valve seals, Rs. 400 for Head gasket and Rs, 1000 for the mechanic. (it is rough estimate dont take it final). so after this your car will not smoke your engine will not reduce oil, and the engine and tail pipe will remain clean and you will be able to use 10W-X OILS.

When 6 month ago i faced the same problem i used the 2nd option.

To be on safe side you should also change the rings, your mechanic is right. and there is no connection between Engine computer scan and engine mechanical condition, even if engine mechanics is in very bad condition and there is no sensor faults the computer scanning will give you good result.

dude get the rings changed and get rid ov it for once and all. coz if smoke is started than its very difficult that it will be completely eliminated no matter which oil or stp u use.

you should go fro option 2. this will keep your engine clean and hassle free. no harm for the engine though if you keep it in this condition, because your engine valve seals are bad other mechanical condition is still good. vehicle manufacturers recommend Valve seals changing after 60,000 Kms once i read it on the net, so it is a normal routine not a big problem. valve seals material life is short as compare to Metal parts.

its a valve seal issue - it can be solved by a talented mechanic without removing the head - I used to do them on diesels every now and then - with IDI diesels its easy as your valves rest on the pistons at TDC once you remove the collets.

In a petrol engine you need to feed the engine nylon rope from the spark plug hole and compress it to TDC effectively locking it and removing the valve collets and hence replacing all seals gently with the straw method.

No amount of thick oil will reduce oil seal oil consumption

Hello! Although its an old thread but i am facing the same problem wid my santro as it gives smoke on cold start in morning for 1 min and reduces engine oil to 1Litre after 700-800kms. Rest of the day it doesnt give smoke unless i park the car for 6-7 hrs.

I recently replaced the valve seals and also changed the valves(genuine) but problem persists. still gives white smoke.

My mechanic checked and told that rings are fine when head was opened.

plz guide what to do now.
