    Default Pls suggest engine oil for Santro

    Hello Mates,

    I've recently bought a Santro Club which is 70,000 driven. Engine is in perfect condition and running smooth. I need your expert opinion regarding the engine oil selection. Previous owner was using Caltex Havoline (don't know abt grade).

    I want to replace this oil with Zic-A or Mobil1 (as i heard these are good), pls suggest the best oil and grade, keeping in view the mileage. Further, I'm driving it only on petrol.

    Do I need to flush the engine before oil change?

    Thanks,

    Aamir

    @brownrose78 .. thanks for your reply...

    can you pls tell what is the average drain interval of this oil? and is it better than Mobil1?

    Further, viscosity of this oil is 20W50, since it is a thicker oil so it will definitely increase the oil pressure. In such case would it not be harmful for old engine?

    Thanks

    well I am still confusd abt the relation of engine life and oil's viscosity. Some ppl say that more viscouse oil shud b used as the engin gets old(oil reduction issues) the others however are of different opinion :-s

    @anwarior
    i recommend you to use ZIC XQ , FULLY SYNTHETIC engine oil and it has same base oil (API BASE OIL GROUP IV) used in Mobil 1 and more over it has too longest drain intraval and ultimate engine protection than other oils availible in SAE XW-40

    Thanks

    I simply love the way people just throw around oil brands here - not mentioning viscosity or grade, except for SKZIC - (the guy knows)

    The rest threads are quite comical. - e.g. just buy total and you will be happy etc. - that means I can buy total SAE 50 oil and shove it down my engine and I'll be set.
