Default suggest oil for Santro that consumes oil a little

whats the best oil for a 2005 santro that consumes a lil oil...say 0.5L to 0.75L maximum per 1000km .....its 83k driven. fuel economy is good...was using Shell Helix 15W-40 (yellow packing) ....changed oil 2 days ago Shell Helix 20W-50 (red packing). are there any mechanical consequences for thickening the oil grade by 5 degrees?? looking forward to ur comments

Thick oil grade means more viscosity for the oil. Get ur car's ring/piston checked. Chk for smoke from tail pipe, it is a sign of weak engine.

the oil consumption is well within the normal range ...my question is regarding increasing the viscosity of oil...what possible effect it might have on the engine parts/ performance etc...(i increased it from 15W-40 to 20W-50)

    Thumbs up

If mileages of ur sentro are less than 100000 km then you should use Zic Hi flo it is best for sentro I have 2004 and using it. In start the car will give little bit smoke after 50 km smoke will stop. Reason of smoke is it remove the carbon from engine
