Default Revo vs Joy vs Santro

I am planning to buy a new car but am reluctant to go for Joy or Santro due to high price tag. While Revo 1050+ attracts me, I want to know if it is reliable? and what sort of maintenance cost I should keep in mind?

I am not worried about resale, atleast not for now.

    Thanks,

    Kashif

I have Revo 80+ and its better then mehran/coure. So i guess Revo 1050 should be good competitor of joy and santro.

I don't think it's wise to do a technical comparison, because, REVO is a budget car as compared to Santro and Joy. There is a huge price difference.

As per my experience, REVO 105 engine is solid, and seems pretty much 'maintenance free'. Engine oil/coolant was replaced at 1000km inspection, but never required any replenishment. The car always started on first self, and warmed up in one minute.

I would put maintenance cost at zero at least for the first year, except routine oil/filter change. D. M. Motors (DHA Phase 1), the authorized workshop, are providing quality after sales service.

ONE thing is for sure all the cars assembled here in PAKISTAN, are not up to that level as the cars that *** to other countries or which are assembled in other countries!!

HENCE ReVO JOY n SANTRO, they are almost the same in quality!

    then comes other aspects........
SANTRO Exec and chevy JOY hav CD players, power windows, better suspension and i do believe they hav better interior as well!!!
But then again it certainly costs u a lot more!

Above all i hav heard that ADAM will be installing power windows and strut suspensions in the rear of the car..... I hav also heard that ADAM is doin work on the interior of the car.....

So i would recomnd REVO as the best option....

PERHAPS DATZBURIER has sumthing to say abt REVO here!

    Kashif,

All these cars have pros and cons and that is why they are in the market. I have personally driven and maintained Mehran, Khyber, Cultus & Chevy. I have never owned santro but have driven it a number of times. I dont know much about REVO except from pictures. So I will give you my opinion.

Chevy is certainly the best for comfort and safety. I used to miss my Khyber 99 (special edition) but Chevy is certainly surpassed that experience. The downside is that the car is a bit overpriced as all other cars in the market. If you have ever been in a nasty accident, you rate safety as # 1 priority, then Chevy is the best choice.

SANTRO has better resale than Chevy. Thats the only good thing about the car. Otherwise the car is made of Tin..!!!

Note that SANTRO and Chevy are fuel guzzlers. You can install CNG but then there is no trunk space.

REVO maybe good but I did not like it much from the pictures I saw. The steering wheel position seems similar to Mehran which I do not like at all. In case of an unfortunate accident, this streering wheel kills the driver..!!!

Again, this is only my opinion. You did not mention the reason as to why you have narrowed down your choice to only these cars. I am sure Pakwheel members will give a lot more ideas that will help you (and to some extent confuse you).

    Good Luck
    Irfan

All three cars are very worthy. They all have good points.
Santro used to be popular, but now its styling is considered old and it is not so good on fuel consumption.

Do not know much about Joy, but, it is also a Korean Car (Daewoo Matiz, under the chevy badge), so, technology in this car won't be much different than Santro.

REVO 105 on the other hand, is not only least priced, but also more bigger in terms of cabin and rear boot size. The 1000cc EFI engine is very robust. The engine is highly reliable, as WULING of China also supplies this engine to many of its GM line-up in China. If GM can trust a WULING engine in its American Branded cars with much of American Technology in them, sold in China, than it must be top class engine.

The people whom have test driven REVO 105 or own it, are very content with its performance. Having said, all the positive stuff, we should not ignore the negatives. Even the best cars, brand new, develop faults in them. German cars are known to have electrical problems, even brand new ones in USA.

In REVO, you can rest assured, the main components, ENGINE and TRANSMISSION are based on very sound and reliable technology, being trusted by GM for its products in CHINA.

WULING also is one of the largest Engine makers of China.

So, REVO 105 is the BEST choice among them all.

    No Problem Kashif Bhai...

You will not be disappointed with REVO 105.

This is the best reason to get REVO Kashif Bhai..

Look at how this owner of REVO 105 has modified it.

    Pictures by Spectra (Saquib Bhai).
The owner had replaced the Steering wheel, added new Alloy Wheels, and also added the fog lamps.
Look in all these pictures. This car does not look any less than any mid pricded import. And considering that is base model is even cheaper than Mehran, is just unbelievable.

Look at the engine. It is web placed in the engine compartment. It is one of the smoothest and most robust engines available at this time, in Pakistan, with Electronic Fuel Injection.

    So, go for it brother...

You can also see its competition, Red Santro in the back... and Look at REVO compared to that Red Santro in the background, you would see how much better This Revo 105 looks compared to that car. There is still alot of space, in the boot compartment, even with the CNG cylinder.

We've all gone thru stages of being struck wildy by love, sometimes in our life time, and for most us, just before being married and being associated with a Fiance (mangaytaar).

That is the best choice Kashif Bhai.

Clearly the Santro is getting out of style. And Joy has this Chinese Copy Chery QQ, stealing its market.

With Time, REVO 105 will have Better Resale value, as it is beginning to gather all the necessary momentum. Chery QQ will not be there for long, as it was being imported and now government's policy on imports has changed in this new budget.

Here is REVO again, next to Hyundai Santro. Look how much better REVO stands out. Performance wise too, REVO is the Best. People will eventually realize it, and this car's value will go up, as the engine is very sound and smooth and the body is the Safest and biggest of all the cars in its class.

If you look closely, that Santro's back looks like a RICHSHAW, ...... Straight UP (Only thing that Rickshaw looking car Santro is missing is the Urdu Poerty on the backside...LoL "Daikho Magaar, Pyaar Se"..... , . While REVO looks like some European Car.....

datzburier bhai good point, that Santro is like a rikshaw, Revo has a better shape then santro.
@kashif: If you intend to buy a car at around 3 lacs, Revo is the only option, its far superior to Mehran, else if you have a budget of 4 or 5 lacs, I personally think that you should consider something else.... and yes if you are interested in buying a little used 1050cc Revo with F/F AC, I can help you with that, a friend has it and he probably will sell it some 40 to 50 thousand rupee less.
