    Default Santro Problems -- Help!

    Dear Fellows,

Please pardon my ignorance as I am not well versed with inside outs of cars.

My Santro Club 2004 is causing some troubles for which I am seeking your guidance.

    • 4th Spark Plug malfunctions too often. There is always oil at tail of plug when remove it but no smoke from silencer (Engine Valve or rings problem?)
    • Car is deadly missing. I changed all plugs and air filter few days ago.
    • After drive of an hour or so (Its completely random), car's engine suddenly stops and does not starts for about 40 or 60 seconds. After completely switching off the car, unlocking the doors and starting again, fix the problem. Some times it takes longer to start the car again and during that time, CNG fuel light on CNG Switch start blinking which is usually static.

    Thank You,

    Ali

    - go to a mechanic, he will open the valve cover and change rubber seals of plugs around 80/- per seal
    - and i think starting and engine turning off seems to be a problem of crank sensor. i am not sure if it has crank or cam sensor but cleaning/replacing both will solve the problem
    - most recommended is that you get is scanned through an efi mechanic using OBDII scanner (computer scan), will charge 200 and diagnose if any sensor is at fault
    - get the car tuned for cng and petrol from a good mechanic

    Thanks Khahsan.

I got this car checked at a workshop and they tell me that Engine Head needs to opened etc etc.. Total expense they told me is 5K + parts's cost. I am totally confused whether I should let him open the engine or not!!

    Get it scanned first
May be a sensor is culprit

the oil the plug could be from the ring leaking or could be valve guide or valve seals leaking it is weird that its not smoking, missing could be due to plug shorting.... about your car not starting and your cng switch blinking surely means electric circuit problem cylinder leakage test is required for plug oil contamination and voltage drop test is required for electronic circuit test and oh yes does engine oil level go down over the period if not then check the throttle body for oil contamination

Got my car scanned. Cam Sensor was found problematic. Replaced it with another one (Rs. 1500). But it didn't worked either and car start causing starting problem. Replaced with another which seems to be working as of now.

Further, car's engine was turning off when I give right or left indicator. :-S Very strange... Electrician said its due to bad wiring. He removed Central Locking and "On" the indicators with separate wires. This fix the problem. However, I am concerned with the "Jugars" he placed in car. What should I do?

Moreover, I will need to done Engine work soon. What will be the cost? I got some quotes from different mechanic. Average labour is 6000 for overhaul and 4000 for engine head work only. My question is how much Rings, valve & seals or lathe machine work will cost?

I am desperately waiting for expert's opinion.
