    Default Power steering installation in Santro Club!

    Hi all,

    I have just recently purchased a Santro Club. If I were to uncover the worst thing about the car, it has to be the steering without doubts!

    I was wondering to treat myself with a power steering if at all it is appropriate. Can someone please advise bearing the listed points in mind:

    - What roughly would be damage?
    - Any potential problems that I might incur after the installation?

    It would be great to hear from a member who has undertaken a similar activity. Thanks a bunch!

    @AhsanRR

    U r pretty much RIGHT about the worst factor of SANTRO CLUB.

    But u will be glad to hear that there is a simple and easy solution.

    Actually SANTRO comes in 2 MODS i.e. CLUB & EXECUTIVE.

    SANTRO EXECUTIVE comes with POWER STEERING but unfortunately CLUB not.

    U just has to go at DEWAN HYUNDAI WORKSHOP and ask them to install POWER STEERING OF SANTRO EXECUTIVE into ur SANTRO CLUB.

    Fortunately it is GENUINE that also comes with EXECUTIVE so there will not be any PROBLEM.

    And u have to pay them around Rs. 12,000 for this FEATURE.

    Ok great!

    And one more thing you might want to answer, how good is the power steering of executive as opposed to Club?
    It has been a year I drove an Executive Santro and as per my memory it really was not as good as power steering you get in other cars?

    I will certainly pop in Deewan motors office to confirm all what you have said and get the steering installed sooner than later. Thanks a million for all the information!

    @AhsanRR

    Well it depends. May be that EXECUTIVE needs some ALIGNMENT or BALANCING settings.

    Also there is proper fuel for POWER STEERING which should remain uptodate.

    It works like a POWER STEERING in SANTRO.

    Obviously it can't be compared to the UPPER CLASS but very GOOD in its CLASS.

    And u can't compare an ORDINARY STEERING with a POWER STEERING. There is a HELL of difference.

    do get the power steering I have driven santro exec for 14 months the drive if hell hell alot better than club just becuase of power steering.

    Its not very advance steering system so the car does tend to over-compensate at low speeds and under compesate at high speeds even then I highly recommend it to you to get the upgrade.

    p.s I dont think it would damage your car in any sense if you get it installed by hyundai ppl and get the original one

    Hello again blokes,

    Just to keep you informed, I had a word with service engineers at Deewan motors and a couple of dealerships, none of them does the steering conversion as the KITs for the power pack come installed in the car and are not available as stand-alone gadget.

    They reckon that second hand KITs can be searched up in Bilal Ganj but a greater proportion of them would leak and would demand high maintenance. Also, a senior service engineer at Deewan said that by getting one installed, I would disturb the genuine fitting of various parts including the steering itself and dash-board. I really would not want to do that with my new baby

    Best Regards
    Ahsan
