    Default Santro CNG Backfiring !!

    AOA everyone,
    my santro is backfiring alot. the air filter cover pops open and the car suddenly loses power and comes to a standstill. initially i thought the locks on the air filter cover were faulty so i replaced the cover with a new one. the problem was solved momentarily but now its persisting. i tied two small spring from the locks to the brake lines to stop the locks from popping but now the cover pops from the bottom.
    help me out guys coz its very embarrassing when the car stops at traffic signals. and i also noted that it backfires at lower revs. ]

    P.S. the CNG kit installed in the car is not FF, its aftermarket.

    u r lucky if the air box clips did not break and u didnt have to replace anything till now.people even get there air filters burnt through back fire problems. which plugs are u using? try reducing plug gap else use the 4 tip bausch plugs and make sure plug wires are providing sufficient current

    @hash4u
    thanks dude. im using the stock plugs. i went to the hyundai dealership few days ago, the did the tune-up and adjusted the spark plug gaps and said they were fine. although im not pretty sure abt the plug wires coz once my mechanic said that one of the wire is not conducting properly so he attached a wire to the existing cable. but that was after the backfiring problem. would the 4 tip plugs solve the problem? any other way to solve the problem? is backfiring a problem related to CNG converted cars only?

    @riazsaad
    get a new set of plug leads/wires and 4 tip plugs.
    problem will be solved for sure. This is a common problem in baleno's, XLI's/GLI's, Santro's

    thanx dude. u forgot to mention ur email addy. yaar problem ye hai ke car chaltay chaltay eik dum patakha marti hai aur air filter ka cover khul jata hai jis se gari ki pick bilkul khatam ho jati hai.
    waise maine race waghaira to nahin karni sirf i need a smooth running car for daily use.
    my car was giving me an economy of abt Rs.3.5/ KM but i re-tuned it (thanx to PW) and now im getting abt Rs.2.25/KM without AC. is that good for a santro?

    @riazsaad
    have u got the plug wires sequence right? May b the back firing issue is due 2 the wrong spark sequence pattern.
