Default why NO to kia classic?

was looking for a cheaper second car for home use and considered kia classic. a nice car with decent accessories and overall a very attractive package, but everyone said 'hath nahi dalna' i was wondering why. it was launched in 2000 then discontinued then again started production in 2003 and then stopped in 2005 right. so what was wrong with the car, searched a lot on pw and got mixed views. the car was priced good at its time, if people say its design was outdated then it was as boxy as a mehran so whats wrong? besides it offered power windows, mirrors perhaps, power antenna, rpm meter, ac, cng and most important was spacious & being a sedan was more practical. okay, but what if one considers it as a second car to be sparingly used. i think would be available for around 300000 only and parts as far as i know are not that hard to find or is it? kia pride still runs on road where does its parts come from?? i hope maintaining a classic should not be a issue. is it a good buy?? please guide thanks

I considered the kia classic too. i think it's a good buy. make sure the car you eventually get is in good condition., coz it all boils down to the the condition whenever you go for a used car.

besides. what else can you find in 3 lacs that has proper air conditioning, good interior space and a boot?

    good luck!

sorry friend, don't have any idea about the spares. i would recomend just paying a visit over to spare part shop and getting prices for random items. preferable items that you have already bought for your other car and have an idea about.

go for it. emphasize on the following points

    1-amazing package in 3oo k.
2-parts are all avaliable .kaun sa rooz change karna hai.
3-as far as resale goes. ap kaun sa rooz rooz sell kartey hain.apart from that if it goes for 50k less in 5 years its still worth it considering the depreciation.

pls do chek on the 3 s dealers of dewan and see if they offer product support for it. if they do then go for it.

say support these old korean cars inplace of the over priced alternatives like corolla and civic.

*sigh* Do look at my earlier posts regarding the Kia Classic if you have the time.

I've owned one since 2005 and its become an essential part of my life. Masha Allah the car has been a great performer, both in the city and on the highways (which was one of the main reasons I bought it). Think about the pros dude. A not-so-old 2nd hand SEDAN at such a low price. The only other options I had were Margalla or the Civic Ex 95 but Margallas were outrageously overpriced and the Civic was way too old. Atleast with this car, with low mileage, it would give me 5-6 years of trouble free running. Just get one that is in good condition and have it thoroughly checked. Parts are not hard to find in Plaza or Shershah, but they are expensive than your typical Suzuki parts.

If you ever need any more info, do feel free to ask.

    adl01,

I am not sure about the spares. I went to see a few classics and the owners told me the parts were inexpensive and easily available.

I would recommend visiting a spare part place and asking around for prices of parts you already know about for your other car. that should give you a rough heads up comparison.

a very good car having just a bad reputation,. if you find one in a good condition and are willing to keep it as a second car, which obviously as i think won't be a daily runner, then there isn't any better option than classic

try to find out the 2004/05 NGV version rather than the early classic, finding a well maintained old car is a tough task by itself

Well, I don't know about Classic or other cars. I just bought an oldie goldie Kia Pride CD5... not well maintained by previous owner, dented, painted, rusted what else not???
I was about to vomit :-(
Once I drove it, its spaciousness, power and compact design lured me into its repair. In the beginning I found it difficult to digest but its comfort after being cared a bit (not too heavy) it doesn't want to go away...
    I like it now :-)
Kia Klassic must be better than Pride I guess.

i believe the pride is a hatchback of pride. the front looks amazingly similar..

just like the current cultus is hatchback of the good ol' margalla. 8-|

    Yeah :-)) true! ;-)
But I found spareparts sellers confused. I needed 'balance rod' for my Pride for front wheel, they had that for Classic but didn't sell fearing incompatibility :-(

we need a comprehensive thread about Kia Classic at PW.. Soomro sb. is a satisfied customer, those who own should open a detailed thread about this car just like Kia Spectra Fan Club so that any doubt in minds of people about maintenance and spares can be countered & that to make people aware that how good the car was and just got neglected by our people!

@UsmanAnsari Yes we do. There were a couple of Classic owners around in 2006. Wonder where they all are now. Spectra knows his stuff about the Classic as well so he could help out.
