    Default Axle problem in Khyber

    Khyber experts,

I have a 99 khyber, whose axles are making a lot of noise now. The mechanic gave me three options:

    1) Replace with Chinese axles costing Rs 2500 with labor,
    2) Replace with Kabli axles costing Rs 4500 with labor,
    3) Replace with Japanese axles costing Rs 6500 with labor.

Please advise what to do, given that i have limited budget and that I need reliability as well. Someone said dont buy Kabli, and I dont believe the mechanic was saying the truth when he said keh Japanese are also available.

Please tell me what to do....

    Thanks rozzz,

But do you think the mechanic is charging the right price for chinese axles . i.e Rs 2500?

I would suggest you the same,
Dont go for the kabli ones as you dont know how they have been used,
go for new ones and if your budget allows you then go for the japanese ones,( though I think they are also local assembled or chinese made but have a better quaility thus are sold under the MADE IN JAPAN thappa)
check the market and different shops to confirm the rates
One of the most difficult things in the world is to know how to do something, and to watch without comment, somebody else do it incorrectly.

If you go to Saeed Brothers, Gwalmandi, you will be done quickly and reasonably charged. Once I got My 1991 Khyber's axles repaired and they lasted about one year. On next visit they gave me offer to get the local ones (also called Chinese) for 2,500 rupees and they served well for over two years, after than I do not know because I sold the car.
Be polite on the road. Always give way to others, particularly ambulances and pedestrians.

By axles you mean Chimta (In mechanics language) ?
What about the steering and Godda of Khyber?
One should also buy them China made?

Welltec brand Chinese are very popular nowadays. I've been using since Dec 2007. 67,000 kms and still going strong.

    @cracked,
Failed axle (CV-joint) can leave you stranded. Don't wait for both to start showing signs (or sounds) of wear.
