Default Self Tuning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

    Salam

    dear members/experts

I own a khyber 1996. Recently overhauled its engine completely at home by myself except the mechanist part. It has its first oil change at 1100Km yesterday and i am planning to tune it. I have following query for the learned members/experts

Q.1. recommended spark plugs for khyber g-10 on CNG
    Q.2. Recommended spark plug gap?
    Q.3. Recommended tappet setting Hot/cold?
Q.4. Running was on petrol with Caltex Havoline formula and now i have switched to CNG with Shell helix HX7 10-40W (synthetic) , is shell HX7 ok?

What else should i do or check to get max output and efficiency from my g-10?

    regards

after-note: In addition to the above queries, this thread also contains info on carburetor, AC, electrical, cooling system, brakes & gear issues related to khyber G-10.

Special thanks to following experts :
Xulfiqar, Fas133, Margallar, Ahsanzs, wasay_Ahmad, Xplorer, jz, Daniyal
for their valuable contributions and last but not least
I am greatful to Cracked for keeping this thread alive by
    raising all the queries/question.

My car also makes the same thak sound while up shifting quickly from 2nd to 3rd gear.

In third gear, gear lever touches silencer box and its pipe in my car and gives a little grinding feeling in gear stick. So check that too from under car in every gear. Gear lever made a small hole in my car silencer box.

    @smijaz @Xulfiqar @margallar

    Distributor opened by myself.
Oil is leaking from behind distributor, but not internally. Distributor ring is broken. Do I have to apply silicon with new ring too? As previously there is silicon applied on Previous ring. Quick reply is appreciated.

The distributor wire is almost about to break from the place where wire goes inside distributor. What to do for that?

How much does the new ring cost and what does it look like? I dont think it is perfectly circular.

    @DUDE007
It's black circular ring approx 1 inch in diameter, 20 or 40 rs. Ring takes 15 minutes max to fit.

Replaced Distributor vacuum advance diaphragm too. 250 rs.

I had undamaged sumitomo spare wires giving 14 k ohms at home. So I use those now. They give better mileage and perform better at high rpms.

You may need to solder fresh wire to replace the fraying low voltage wires (use good quality wires) - if they are broken from very close to the ignitor then you may need a new ignitor (extreme local heat may kill it) - use flux to flow the solder quickly and apply heatshrink to seal the joint - then place a large cable tie around the distributor body and a piece of foam rubber and then cushion the wire bundle to prevent it from falling due to its own weight.

Try shifting all gears in the same way with the car in stand still position and then notice if the noise is still there?

    Naah.
That the was the first thing I checked but now it doesn't touches it. If it did I would have figured it.
What confuses is me that with the car in stand still position, no matter in which gear I shift and how rapidly I shift, there is no such sound. It only occurs while moving and with the optimal engine temperature. It also shifts without any sound when the gauge at the C mark.
One of the most difficult things in the world is to know how to do something, and to watch without comment, somebody else do it incorrectly.

Are you people using the same seat belts which came with Khyber?
It is manual, it doesn't stretch back into the side cover by itself which is quite irritating.

My Khyber seat belts automatically stretch back, when I open it. And it also locks if I pull it quickly. It's not manual.

@axe.effect thanks for detailed reply. I got quoted the same price for it and it was blue in color. I'm not referring to the ring on the cap but that near the engine.
How do your seatbelts go back automatically and jam when pulled hard? :O i thought this never came from factory. What model is your khyber?
@daniyalahmad no it doesn't make any sound while stationary/idle. The only sound you can hear is of the gear lever but not grinding sound.

Welcome. It's 1997. I don't know if they are factory fitted, maybe previous owner upgraded the seat belts.

If you see any brand name written on them do share it. I followed the link you mentioned above but the pics uploaded by member fas133 are not loading at all.

Edit: the rubber ring you installed on the distributor was on the engine side, right?

I think some khybers came with the seatbelts that you simply hanged on the B pillar - I dont recall seeing one with the retractor, however you can fit almost 80% of any japanese seat belt provided that the belt tongue clasp is the same.

the belts that were supposed to be hanged had a bad habit of falling off whenever you took a fast turn or hit a pothole.

Yes, hanging seats belts fall when you get out of the car, plus its quite irritating to put them on the hanger every time.
And when they fall, sometimes they get dirty and they put marks on your shirt. My driving side seat belt was a bit short, so I took it out from the side cover, and now its too difficult to take care of.
Any idea how much good Japanese retractable seat belts cost (front two)?
In Islamabad, the ICT police issue you ticket if driver or the front passenger isn't wearing seat belt.
