Default Self Tuning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

    Salam

    dear members/experts

I own a khyber 1996. Recently overhauled its engine completely at home by myself except the mechanist part. It has its first oil change at 1100Km yesterday and i am planning to tune it. I have following query for the learned members/experts

Q.1. recommended spark plugs for khyber g-10 on CNG
    Q.2. Recommended spark plug gap?
    Q.3. Recommended tappet setting Hot/cold?
Q.4. Running was on petrol with Caltex Havoline formula and now i have switched to CNG with Shell helix HX7 10-40W (synthetic) , is shell HX7 ok?

What else should i do or check to get max output and efficiency from my g-10?

    regards

after-note: In addition to the above queries, this thread also contains info on carburetor, AC, electrical, cooling system, brakes & gear issues related to khyber G-10.

Special thanks to following experts :
Xulfiqar, Fas133, Margallar, Ahsanzs, wasay_Ahmad, Xplorer, jz, Daniyal
for their valuable contributions and last but not least
I am greatful to Cracked for keeping this thread alive by
    raising all the queries/question.

Do not drive the car. Blown head gasket causes low power, loss of coolant in radiator, bubble formation in radiator and milkiness on oil cap.

if your oil is like condensed milk then dont drive the car, it will wipe out the camshaft lobes.

    @Xulfiqar, @syncview, @axe.effect, @metalhead, @margallar

I am planning to go to mechanic on Saturday. Because before that most of spare part shops will b closed. On Saturday i hope k all business will be back to running.

    suggest good engine oil.
Suggest good gear oil as m planning to ask to open gear box due to humming sound on 5th gear nd grinding sound on returning to 2nd & ist gear
My wheel hub or disks are also having prob, brake pedal badly jumps when breaks applied at speed of 80 plus. Disks already changed, think prob of hub..

Havoline, shell or delo gold are good options for engine oil.

For gear use the grade recommend in the manual, zic gear oil is good

Gear problem might reduce just with new oil

You will have to live with the noise, the hum probably won't go even after a rebuild.

fixing it is expensive and requires skill, i know of a guy whose gears would get stuck, he had it opened thrice, it was fixed the third time, but it still makes that hum

i guess the cheapest solution is a kabli gearbox

    @shaidbokhari
Search the thread, using key terms 'gearbox', 'gear oil', 'engine oil', 'gear', etc. There are some useful posts previously.

Check if grinding occurs with engine off too. The sounds from gear box reduced very much after gear oil change to specified one. Previously it had thicker oil creating problems.

I replaced hubs too 900 each. My wobbling has gone. Sometimes aftermarket discs need tooling before installation, as shopkeepers drop these things on floor violently.

Add coolant very very slowly. This allows less air locking. Maybe your water pump is dead. I once had my generator belt broken and engine heated upto 60% gauge because water pump works with the same belt.

I got gearbox repaired for 6000rs. As kabli ones were around 15000rs.

Opened water jacket, there was no water inside that container, although radiator wasnt empty. Keeping it open, poured almost 1 litre water in radiator then water start filling that lower jacket container. When it filled, re bolted upper jacket and poured half an litre more in radiator to fill it till neck. Started car, water jumps out with self start. But after that no whirls like there were before installing tstat. Is water not circulating? still air trapped?
if i accelerate a bit, than watet start coming out of radiator but without bubles. Sometime a big vomit type bulk buble. No foam type bubles.
Inspect oil. Oil color nd thickness seems ok. But giving burning smell if smelled the stick. Engine started good. Sounds good. Water was dropping from exhaust pipe as before. Tick tick sound was vanished, but a light ghoon ghoon sound on high acceleration. didnt took road try for power. But everythng seems good..... now wot do u suggest?

Water getting near the pistons, that might increase resistance or even bend connecting rods

Bad gasket means your cylinder pressure is leaking to coolant, or coolant is leaking to oil or cylinder, or oil is going into coolant.

If your cylinder pressure drops, you will loose power on that cylinder. If water gets into cylinder it will effect combustion and can cause excessive pressure leading to mechanical failure of piston/ connecting rod...

So no testing for power for now. Driving in this condition is not safe and economical as you may destroy more parts and components. If crank bearings are ok now, driving with burnt oil or sludge will start to wear it off as the oil galleries will start to get clog.

Regarding gearbox, just change the oil, see if it helps. I would not mix the engine repair with gearbox in your situation. First recover the engine part and later you can go to the gear section.

A good and honest mechanic recommended for people living near I-10, Islamabad:
    Mechanic Nisar Khan
    03003772163
    Car Clinic
    Shaheen Market
    I-10/1, Islamabad

He has done complete engine overhauling of my Khyber. Took only 4500/- labor and has done every thing very neatly. A good thing about him is that his workshop is not at a mainstream place, that's why he is not very busy. Otherwise mechanics are working on 3 or 4 cars at the same time and most work is done by chotay ustads.
