Default Self Tuning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

    Salam

    dear members/experts

I own a khyber 1996. Recently overhauled its engine completely at home by myself except the mechanist part. It has its first oil change at 1100Km yesterday and i am planning to tune it. I have following query for the learned members/experts

Q.1. recommended spark plugs for khyber g-10 on CNG
    Q.2. Recommended spark plug gap?
    Q.3. Recommended tappet setting Hot/cold?
Q.4. Running was on petrol with Caltex Havoline formula and now i have switched to CNG with Shell helix HX7 10-40W (synthetic) , is shell HX7 ok?

What else should i do or check to get max output and efficiency from my g-10?

    regards

after-note: In addition to the above queries, this thread also contains info on carburetor, AC, electrical, cooling system, brakes & gear issues related to khyber G-10.

Special thanks to following experts :
Xulfiqar, Fas133, Margallar, Ahsanzs, wasay_Ahmad, Xplorer, jz, Daniyal
for their valuable contributions and last but not least
I am greatful to Cracked for keeping this thread alive by
    raising all the queries/question.

Guys, what fuel filter and ignition coil are you using in your Khybers? I have an option to buy a chinese fuel filter one for 100rs and leppon(which the shop didnt have at the moment) for 120rs. Will the leppon one be ok? In used coils, which one should i buy? Please mention the shop name(s) in Lahore.

Fuel filter I use is Guard. Fuel filters are very low quality these days. I use STP petrol cleaner once every few months, it helps to keep fuel tank clean.

Ignition coil is stock denso, blue color on sides. Check your coil with multimeter before changing.

@axe.effect yes they are very cheap quality
. How much did you buy the guard one for? I want to change the filter myself so do I have to worry about air getting in the fuel lines? I think air will damage the fuel pump.

It was 120rs. I replaced fuel tank a year ago and now peace of mind. Short term air exposure should not cause any damage to fuel pump, as I changed all fuel pipes recently and had no problem. If your petrol cutoff solenoid is not on the fuel tank to fuel pump line, then you will not face any problem.

Ok. how much did the fuel tank cost? Was it kabli? If your khyber doesn't have the solenoid there I think mine wouldn't too.

I was driving and noticed something strange. I up shifted to 3rd gear at 40kph and after releasing the clutch pedal fully, floored the accelerater. The rpm was increasing but speed wasn't. So I thought the clutch is slipping. But then I released the accelerator and applied it again immediately and there was no slipping.....is the clutch gone?

P.S: I normally drive softly so I never noticed this behaviour before until recently.

In addition to what I wrote, when I released the accelerator(after flooring it), I drove normally and the problem vanished. This problem is with gears higher than 2nd. There was no sudden raise in rpm in 1st and 2nd gear. And the car stalled on releasing the clutch at 1st gear.

use a coil by new era, you can get it in around 1200

    use a sgp fuel filter

    leppon? NO

used coils are not worth it, they never perform as good as new, they are expensive, they look bad, and the shopkeepers hate it when you take out the dmm

plus their plastic bodies are often cracked, leading to arcing, no good warranty either

yet you see some poor bloke replacing the ignitor or CB point assemblies over and again because "2 number maal milta hai" and never actually testing if they have a very low impedance ignition coil - just because they bought the "used jenyan part"

I thought new ones would cost 3 to 5k but now I will buy a new era one. I try to get new quality parts....don't get me wrong.
@Xulfiqar please shed some light on the above issue.

that is true, i encountered many coils with resistances less than one ohm. that would be more expensive than a brand new genuine coil

this was the case with kabli ones, the new era coil had a primary resistance of around 1.2 and came with an external resistor.

A parts shop near my home quoted 1200-1300. he was also giving 6 months warranty, he also had the fakeish denso gt coil for 3400

but first try a suzuki dealer for a mehran coil. if it is affordable, then it is a better option, nothing beats denso

but one thing to mention, the new era coil is not bottle type, you will have to get a wiring plug from a spare parts shop and connect that to the thimbles that are currently on your old coil.

round oil filled new era coils were extremely abundant in parts markets. I mean everything from a datsun 1200 sunny to a mehran used it. There was also a flood of genuine Bosch silver coils in the market which people did not buy because - japani nahin hai.

it would be great if he finds that, but i didn't find it when i was looking for a replacement. maybe because the oil filled design is very old.

i like the new plastic bodied coils better, the absence of thimbles makes it a very simple job to install or remove them and if you solder the wires and use heatshrink to cover it up, it looks good too.

I would have gone for that bosch coil if it was available , a seller sent me a bosch blue coil saying it was good for margalla, it would have probably damaged the ignitor, primary resistance was i think 0.7 or less, someone without research would have found out the hard way

New fuel tank was for 2750. Running perfectly fine till now.

I think the clutch slippage can be better checked under load or on uphill.

By new era coils, it is meant latest smaller size coils?. I just Googled and found a company ERA making ignition coils.
