Default Self Tuning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

    Salam

    dear members/experts

I own a khyber 1996. Recently overhauled its engine completely at home by myself except the mechanist part. It has its first oil change at 1100Km yesterday and i am planning to tune it. I have following query for the learned members/experts

Q.1. recommended spark plugs for khyber g-10 on CNG
    Q.2. Recommended spark plug gap?
    Q.3. Recommended tappet setting Hot/cold?
Q.4. Running was on petrol with Caltex Havoline formula and now i have switched to CNG with Shell helix HX7 10-40W (synthetic) , is shell HX7 ok?

What else should i do or check to get max output and efficiency from my g-10?

    regards

after-note: In addition to the above queries, this thread also contains info on carburetor, AC, electrical, cooling system, brakes & gear issues related to khyber G-10.

Special thanks to following experts :
Xulfiqar, Fas133, Margallar, Ahsanzs, wasay_Ahmad, Xplorer, jz, Daniyal
for their valuable contributions and last but not least
I am greatful to Cracked for keeping this thread alive by
    raising all the queries/question.

Yeah, very true. Chrome spray is rs. 100 more expensive than normal spray and results are just ok.

I should have done that too, for increased even visibility.

I used this chrome paint back in '08 on my car but felt that taxi wali feel with too much chamak even when the lights were off so a year back as per @Xulfiqar 's advice I opened the lights, painted the dome white with auto-color, added 5W corner bulb, sealed the lights properly and the results were zabardast.
    Have a look.
These first two with the lens just placed (not attached) and the second last is with just the back lights and the last one is with the brake.

I was so happy with the result of white paint that later on I did the same with the licence plate lights housing.

It must be there, because if this is not present, light won't be evenly distributed.

Try them in the back lights and let us know the results.
Great lights you got. I used chrome to make it reflective, but still there is not too shine/reflection in them. My lights are not very clean, so they don't shine much. But i do get some crystal lights feeling from them.

I was too lazy to add two bulbs, though i read posts about these somewhere here, maybe yours.

Is it correct? Seems like my rotors are of 7.0mm. Shall I change them?

    Any recommended brand?

There is corrosion on edge of one rotor from which there is squeal sound upon applying brakes.

My brake rotors are working great, not a single problem. They are ravi brand i guess. I got them from waseem autos for around 2200 or 2400. There is lower quality too that is available at kohinoor traders for about 1400 that @shaidbokhari is using.

Get them polished before installing, though i didn't polish them. Photos are added in previous posts of rotors, they are silver color.

I installed new hubs too 1600 pair, working great.

Guys there is some weird rattling sound coming from the front right side of engine bay. I can only hear it when the ac is on and as soon as i let my foot off the accelerator pedal the car decelerates and due to the backward jerk there is a faint rattle sound. Its audible to the driver and happens only once.

I think it may be the side engine mount. The front mount(Sikka) and transmission mount(some other brand) were replaced a few weeks ago which reduced vibrations a lot. What else could it be?

If hubs need replacement, bearings may need to be replaced too.

Press the bearings into hub, do not let him press the bearings with hammer.

Read the topic 'Grease' and purchase appropriate grease for bearings and brake calipers.

    Rest others can guide better.

The same discs are running perfectly in 3 other khybers, for more than a year.

I have its paid latest version too that can be installed for free. Let me know if you want.

I think free version should work good for basic use.

Thanks a bunch. My mechanic was saying that there is play in adapter/caliper which will we repaired to avoid uneven "ghissna" of brake pads (i had brake pads changed, one pair was not evenly "ghissa" hua, it was thicker from one end and thinner from one end). What do u say about this problem?

This isn't my car so can't really answer your query about the tints

GTI fog lamps in my opinion won't look good on the khyber's bumper. I was looking forward to adding the fog lights that come in the new cars like city, vitz, corolla and civic. These are small and if they can be installed with proper cutting they'd look nice i hope. Reference pic attached below taken from Fouadbakht's "Vitz Striptease" thread:

For improved night visibility, buy Phillips H4 bulbs, i dont remember exactly but they were crystal vision or xtreme vision (about 4500k color temperature), they have great light, way better than koito.

Fog lights are good for fog only, having visibility upto 10 feet at max. They don't project light at a distance.
I am sorry brother this is not my car just attached the pic for reference and don't really know the rim and tyre profile sorry.

I already have phillips bulbs installed but since my headlights are old and the headlight housing is not in a good condition I believe I'd need new headlights. I don't know man I think fog lights do improve the visibility and if you are to share the roads with those damn corollas you need to be as loaded as you can be :p

    Just for an idea.
The lowest quality headlights are rs. 900 each side. They are CTG or something similar name.

Normal quality headlights are rs. 1600 each side. TODO is brand name.

Best quality are approx 2000 each side. Koito is brand name.

    Market prices may vary.

You get what you pay for.

    P. S, fog lights are waste of money for improved night vision at a distance, guaranteed!. Check any OEM fog light, you will know.

There's an issue while starting car after it has fully warmed up.
What happens is that it takes a longer self during which there might be a pop sound from inside distributor cap. Then when the car finally starts there is black smoke for 1 or 2 seconds. Plugs are rusty and idle mixture seems fine. The distributor cap had some black deposits on it which i have to clean after every few days. The cap itself is fine i.e no scratches etc. So this could be due to less spark or high float bowl level.....thats what i think.

Pop sound like a very small explosion. The gasket gets misplaced so i think the cap moves from its position.

It hesitates. I haven't yet installed a diode for the relay so maybe thats why. What do you think?

    @DUDE007

if as you say there is sometimes a small explosion in the distributor cap for that in addition to spark there should be combustable fumes in the cap.. the only way for it to be there is through a ruptured/failed distributor advance diaphram which is connected to the carb via port slightly beneath the throttle plate.

when your car shuts off abnormally it usually cough or spits through carb because the fuel enters the c. chamber and burns with out the spark and while the intake is open in certain cylinder.. this causes sudden burst of pressure travelling back to carburetor.

As the throttle plate is usually closed while engine shutdown the pressure goes to the ports below the throttle plate causing the connected diaphrams to rupture or the vacuum pipes to be disconnected.

2 or more possiblities from the following may refer to your problem
    your distributor diaphram is ruptured.
primary cutoff solenoid is not cutting off fuel when you switch off
Timing is too advanced or fuel is too low in RON
    float level is too high

The diaphragm is leaking so it will be changed.
How do i check the cutoff solenoid? Can it be replaced?
Timing hasn't been set as i have no timing gun. What is the minimum RON for khyber?
I suspect float level as it hasn't been calibrated in a long time.
