Default Self Tuning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

    Salam

    dear members/experts

I own a khyber 1996. Recently overhauled its engine completely at home by myself except the mechanist part. It has its first oil change at 1100Km yesterday and i am planning to tune it. I have following query for the learned members/experts

Q.1. recommended spark plugs for khyber g-10 on CNG
    Q.2. Recommended spark plug gap?
    Q.3. Recommended tappet setting Hot/cold?
Q.4. Running was on petrol with Caltex Havoline formula and now i have switched to CNG with Shell helix HX7 10-40W (synthetic) , is shell HX7 ok?

What else should i do or check to get max output and efficiency from my g-10?

    regards

after-note: In addition to the above queries, this thread also contains info on carburetor, AC, electrical, cooling system, brakes & gear issues related to khyber G-10.

Special thanks to following experts :
Xulfiqar, Fas133, Margallar, Ahsanzs, wasay_Ahmad, Xplorer, jz, Daniyal
for their valuable contributions and last but not least
I am greatful to Cracked for keeping this thread alive by
    raising all the queries/question.

He showed me two qualities, the genuine one (Made by NTC for Suzuki) was for Rs.1450/-
Another one was for Rs. 650/- That was made by Denso.

It was the brand new NTC (Genuine), confirmed by mechanic. It is available at many shops, a little bargaining can get you that in rs 800/-, as most of them ask 1000-1200 for it. Reasonable price is rs 800/-.

Did you look the same at Potohar, Kohinoor or any other shop?

I visited Pakistan autos at Chah Sultan, he said brand new thermostat for Khyber is not available, try searching scrap yard. Also, a friend bought brand new thermostat valve for his Mitsubishi Lancer for Rs. 2900/- I thought 1450/- is reasonable for Suzuki.
By the way I never knew that bargaining works here. I thought Waseem autos, Kiyani autos, Kohinoor autos etc are fixed price shops.

Waseem is biggest rip out there. Kohinoor has bit reasonable prices. I went with my friend to buy thermostat for his mehran, all suzukis used NTC 82C and it is universal thing. Kohinoor had it in NTC packing which was in plastic and it was for 650rs and waseem had same NTC thermostat in SGP packing and his price was 1450rs and Suzuki islamabad quoted 2250 for the same sgp packing thermostat. He bought it from kohinoor, its a pretty basic mechanical item nothing fancy.

To my knowledge and few experienced advisors... It shud nt b installed in old engines... But if engine is in best condition... Even paying 2200 for thermostat valve is recommended

Old or new, thermostat is a must. It maintains your engine's temperature in a range where it can perform optimally.

when you buy a thermostat, test it before installing, put it in a container of boiling water and confirm that it opens up

the experience of those advisors is useless - tell them to sell their tools and look for some other trade to earn their living.

to work neatly on your engine, drain out about a litre of coolant from the system and then remove the upper pipe from the radiator side and then point it down into the same drain container to empty the pipe, remove the flange and at max you will only lose a tea spoon of coolant.

Reason to say this, - coolant is poisonous.

Before installing the bolts back, blow out the coolant with air, blow some WD40 into the bolt holes to drive out any remaining water, blow with air again, makes sure threads are clean and then install the bolts back, A drop of silicone at the bolt neck also helps to keep out moisture leaking into the threads which can rust them out.

    Good day fellow khyber owners,

Have a question. I visited three different mechanics for check up of my car's carburetor, all of them stated the same that it has eroded from over use of CNG. Since i have stopped using CNG, it has started acting up. Now all the mechanics suggest that get a mehran's carburetor installed instead of buying a kabuli carburetor.

Please need the pros and cons of this suggestion, quick replies will be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Dear Aftab

Thank you very much for your response well understand the situation,

Currently i am running it same as it is and i shown it to my other mechanic and he explain that inside seal need to be replaced and he will remove the distributor and give it to the specialist for that job.

Further one more problem i am facing is that car running rich and black spoke is coming and bad millage on petrol so my mechanic adjusted the mixture in the carburetor and ask me to check the millage if it is improved or not, other wise we need to check the carburetor as well.

Can you advice to use any fuel additives which will help to clean the carburetor? or i should try carburetor cleaner?

The car is with me since few months seems the previous owner don't use the patrol much

    Dear Friends,

Just to update you the situation about distributor leakage, I went to my trusted mechanic in Garden area and he removed the distributor and we went to Megzilane and their are couple of people who are doing this job so finally we give it to one guy and he agreed to change the internal seal in distributor and charge us 400 Rs for every thing and Mashallah the problem is solved and he give guarantee than if it gets leak in one month i will replace it free of charge.

Further my car was not working properly on petrol so my mechanic remove the carburetor and we give it to Rafiq Carburetor wala at Garden road (opposite to Total Petrol pump previous caltex at battery market), he charge me 1600 for the job and he replaced some pump and butterfly and clean all the line replace seals so after fitting back the results was much much better Mashallah.

Previously car was running rich giving black smoke and milage was very worse 6 km / per liter, so black smoke is gone now as for millage i will check and update it accordingly.

If any member need help for the mechanic near garden please do let me know he is a very nice guy, he charge me 600 for labour charges which include above work and replacement of brake pads as well

after a lot ov thinking and experience...i think average has nothing to do with carby as much as we think...average depends on driving habits and many external uncontrolable factora like routes in use, congetions, signals, road conditions..
carby is one of several factors...so it can effect very little....
