Default Self Tuning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

    Salam

    dear members/experts

I own a khyber 1996. Recently overhauled its engine completely at home by myself except the mechanist part. It has its first oil change at 1100Km yesterday and i am planning to tune it. I have following query for the learned members/experts

Q.1. recommended spark plugs for khyber g-10 on CNG
    Q.2. Recommended spark plug gap?
    Q.3. Recommended tappet setting Hot/cold?
Q.4. Running was on petrol with Caltex Havoline formula and now i have switched to CNG with Shell helix HX7 10-40W (synthetic) , is shell HX7 ok?

What else should i do or check to get max output and efficiency from my g-10?

    regards

after-note: In addition to the above queries, this thread also contains info on carburetor, AC, electrical, cooling system, brakes & gear issues related to khyber G-10.

Special thanks to following experts :
Xulfiqar, Fas133, Margallar, Ahsanzs, wasay_Ahmad, Xplorer, jz, Daniyal
for their valuable contributions and last but not least
I am greatful to Cracked for keeping this thread alive by
    raising all the queries/question.

    have following mods currently
    1 plugs bpr5egp
    2 plug wires 10mm r-spec
    3 intake
    4 indus 1.6 coil
    new Msd cost almost 20k....

all those parts and msd and add a few money...and swap a engine....gain will be 10 times more then what MSD will do

better get a 660cc turbo and custom manifold ....good enough to go head to head with 1.3 cars

I think a member already tried GTI meter and it was not working because GTI was a 4 cylinder car whereas Khyber has three cylinders.

I am no expert in this custom exhaust & down-piping stuff but according to my experience stock khyber engine needs some kind of back pressure / resistance from the exhaust muffler system in order to deliver low end power (pick) otherwise the exhaust gases goes out more quickly causing decline engine compression and subsequently in car's pick.

I had blown front dholki (muffler) coz of which my car was sounding wierd and also the pick and starting was out of the window but after installing a new muffler every thing was back to normal.

May be this down-piping works better in tuner/modified engines having mods like intake or some kind force induction may be.

Experts in this performance stuff may kindly contribute.

I think its one of the bearing inside the gear box, khyber's gear box is known for such noises.

    Aoa,

I have this issue with CNG consumption of my khyber, it does 120Km on full 50L cylinder in lahore city without A/C. I know it should be more than this but if I decrease or even increase the gas flow the engine pick goes bye bye. It is the optimal setting giving me good pick 0-100 in 19sec (CNG) and top speed 135km/h.

The issue is when I get it filled from CNG station and record the reading on the pressure gauge in the engine compartment of the car it shows 210 bars. After few hours of car standing at night the gas/cylinder cools down and shows reading 190bars in the morning.

After travelling just 22Km (35 minutes drive) the remaining pressure in the cylinder falls from 190bar to 120bars (70 bars difference). this 120bar pressure then goes for 100kms with 10bar approx remaining.

there are no leaks in the system , confirmed.

    My question is
    is it normal?
    why is it happening?
can it be rectified and HOW?

    thanks in advance.

Yes, its quiet normal. Actually the pressure gauge installed in the car is not well calibrated. It just gives an idea of how much gas is there. Do not believe in the pressure mentioned on the gauge or the number of lights.

Yes it is normal. I have experienced this thing too. When I fill my car's CNG cylinder at night, if it is at 200 bars at that time then in the morning its around 190 bars. I think it is due to the change in temperature.

Yesterday while cleaning the air cleaner of my Khyber I observed that it has some oil in it. Oil was not in the form of drops, it was like sprayed. And it was exactly in front of the black pipe coming from tappet cover and going in air cleaner.
    What can be the reason?

Check you engine oil level on the dip stick, it should not be above the top mark.

If oil level is between the two marks, check the PCV.

If PCV is ok then its due to excessive blow from the combustion chamber, meaning combustion pressure from the chamber is leaking by the rings and getting in the crankcase.

I always keep an eye on engine oil level.
It is just touching the upper hole of dipstick. So its ok.
In order to check PCV valve, I have to take it out first?
