Default Self Tuning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

    Salam

    dear members/experts

I own a khyber 1996. Recently overhauled its engine completely at home by myself except the mechanist part. It has its first oil change at 1100Km yesterday and i am planning to tune it. I have following query for the learned members/experts

Q.1. recommended spark plugs for khyber g-10 on CNG
    Q.2. Recommended spark plug gap?
    Q.3. Recommended tappet setting Hot/cold?
Q.4. Running was on petrol with Caltex Havoline formula and now i have switched to CNG with Shell helix HX7 10-40W (synthetic) , is shell HX7 ok?

What else should i do or check to get max output and efficiency from my g-10?

    regards

after-note: In addition to the above queries, this thread also contains info on carburetor, AC, electrical, cooling system, brakes & gear issues related to khyber G-10.

Special thanks to following experts :
Xulfiqar, Fas133, Margallar, Ahsanzs, wasay_Ahmad, Xplorer, jz, Daniyal
for their valuable contributions and last but not least
I am greatful to Cracked for keeping this thread alive by
    raising all the queries/question.

make sure there is no carbon traces inside the distro, the cap should be absolutely clean from inside and outside. and dry as well. make sure the leads are also absolutely clean and dry and that nothing is bridging their inner conductor and insulation. if sparks still fly here n there then coat the leads with insulation tape (osaka wali jo cricket balls pe lagatay hain) then watch if sparks are still there.

I am facing a problem with my car these days, the problem is i got my fuel tank upto half and in two days it came to quarter without driving the car on petrol.

    I have checked the following

    1. No leakage from pump, pipes, solenoid valve, carb, fuel filter, fuel lines, tank etc

    2. The fuel cap is secure.

    3. No smell of gasoline in the engine bay, undercarriage, near fuel tank.

    4. negligible scent of petrol in the cabin, its very little but it is there

    what is the diagnosis?

    thanks

^^ then it looks only the problem of fuel gauge that it is not reading correct amount of fuel in the tank. There is no leakage at all.

    @ smijaz

for petrol reduction, do check the fuel level gauge in instrument panel and also in the tank.

Usually the mechanical petrol pump leaks but it can been seen easily. In the petrol solenoid valve, i think there is a bypass valve (small black plastic lever on it). Once a mechanic told me about it. i am not so sure about it also.

If you have an electronic pump (tuktuki) and have removed the solenoid, may be its started to leak and the carburettor is sucking in petrol along with gas

The problem of spark leakage persists:

Last night i checked the grounding by connecting different grounding points with a thick electric cable but the spark leakage remained the same.

Distro check is next. but i dont think it will have any problem as the spark leaking is before and after the distro.
Finally i will have to check the coil.........

I hope so.. and one more thing is today when I opened up the fuel tank cap it was like opening up a can of soda (pepsi or coke). This also means there is no leak in the system but is it normal to have this much pressure build up in the tank????

I also have my doubts on the guage and the level sensor.

I have mechanical fuel pump and is not leaking. the solenoid valve has small plastic lever to mechanically bypass electrical valve and its used when the electrical switch is not working or when trying to push start a car with a dead battery.

I have removed the pipe from the carb and put it in a bottle and started the car on CNG to check if any petrol is passing through but none was seen after 15 minutes of idling and little reving. So solenoid valve is Ok.

Check continuity from spark plug terminal to central electrode if it exists then it's ok otherwise replace the respective spark plug.
Open up the distributor and check generator and ignitor.

Ideally the temp gauge needle should stay in middle but in old suzuki cars like ours' there are lot of variables involved like gauge is not working properly, temp sensor is non genuine, thermostat is from another car as khyber's is unavailable etc etc. so one cant tell the exact status.

Mostly overheating is shown by the temp guage when the needle reaches quarter to H till H.

Little above middle with AC in day time is pretty normal.

Gear will be out of the engine bay and dismantled. I hope respective gears are in good shape and only the brass synchronizers and shifter's fingers are worn out.

Dont forget to replace all seals once the gear box is open like shifter seal, clutch shaft seal and 2 axle seals.

Expense might reach the figure of 3500 with Labour.
