Default Self Tuning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

    Salam

    dear members/experts

I own a khyber 1996. Recently overhauled its engine completely at home by myself except the mechanist part. It has its first oil change at 1100Km yesterday and i am planning to tune it. I have following query for the learned members/experts

Q.1. recommended spark plugs for khyber g-10 on CNG
    Q.2. Recommended spark plug gap?
    Q.3. Recommended tappet setting Hot/cold?
Q.4. Running was on petrol with Caltex Havoline formula and now i have switched to CNG with Shell helix HX7 10-40W (synthetic) , is shell HX7 ok?

What else should i do or check to get max output and efficiency from my g-10?

    regards

after-note: In addition to the above queries, this thread also contains info on carburetor, AC, electrical, cooling system, brakes & gear issues related to khyber G-10.

Special thanks to following experts :
Xulfiqar, Fas133, Margallar, Ahsanzs, wasay_Ahmad, Xplorer, jz, Daniyal
for their valuable contributions and last but not least
I am greatful to Cracked for keeping this thread alive by
    raising all the queries/question.

    No,

that zone actually tells you something - It tells you that your engine has died of overheating.

Suzuki should have painted that red.

There will be no drastic change in fins shape except outer edge may be damaged by touching the condenser or grill but the signs of warped fins are

    1. It will cause vibration which you will be able to feel in the cabin.
    2. It will make extra noise.
    3. It will displace air to the sides instead of pushing it through the condenser.

Now i can see the images of the condenser fan.
I think the domain is registered with imageshack...

anyways, my radiator fan blades are curled like that... once i looked for a kabli fan but found all to be the same as mine and on asking got a reply that they are all like this, so i had to say ok then line is fine. i dont need it...

is there a fit from any other car... or anybody know a place in pindi/isb to get it from.

My big brother overhaul the Khyber engine but i am not satisfied with the sound of engine. Before sound is very good like the sound of Khyber but it is not. second thing is that its consumption on petrol also increase.

    Need help Guyz,

The problem is last night i got stuck in heavy traffic and took me 2 hours to get from Muslim town to Township. During this stop and go the electricals of the car started to dim out like A/C fan slowed down, head lights faded, horn gone it was like alternator was not doing its job but as soon as i accelerated the things got better. Then I started to use AC and head lights alternately and got home.

I checked the SG of battery it was below 1.100 and Volts 10.8.

    In the morning

Ammeter shows alternator is not charging on idle (900RPM) but starts at around 1100RPMs giving 15-30apms, the amps are not constant but fluctuate badly like 30 then 15 then 30 so on.

voltmeter shows very weird readings at idle like 3V, 19V, 11V and fluctuating. at 1100and above RPMs it shows normal 13.3V and rising gradually till 14.10V

After driving without AC and headlights and traffic in the morning for 30 minutes the battery standing volts got to 12.40V after removing surface charge and SG was 1.230.

There are no AC volts coming from the alternator so the rectifier is OK.

    What could be the problem?

    My guess is
    1. Regulator
    2. weak +ve wire going from alternator to battery +ve terminal

Once the same symptoms appeared in my Santro.
I took the alternator to an electrician, he tested it by rotating it with a rope. Some times it was giving out current and some times not.
Then he opened it and found that solder of the wire which gives +ve 12 to alternator from ignition switch was missing/corroded. After re-soldering it became fine.

    Actually alternator has four connections
    1) Chassis ground
    2) L wire, which is connected to CHG light in panel. It turns -ve when alternator is not making current (CHG light comes ON) and it gives +ve 12v when alternator is making current (CHG light goes OFF, because it gets +ve on both pins)
    3) IG wire, +ve 12v must be supplied to this terminal, otherwise alternator will not make current. (problem is with this wire)
    4) B wire, this is the regulated out-put of the alternator and it directly connects to battery.
Hope it will help in further diagnosis.

What is the status of CHG light on panel?

    Thanks for the info.

About the CHG light, It goes off the moment engine starts and doesnt turns on while its running.

your alternator probably has worn out carbon brushes.. If in doubt full field the alternator to check the voltage regulator - in your ND unit its done by inserting a thin screwdriver from the back of the case - (it will actually have a hole near the centre) to the carbon brush holder screw - when you touch the screw to the case the alternator goes to maximum load and you would see the alternator go insane on the multimeter. confirming your alternator is good but regulator is bad. If the output is still low the alternator interally is bad.

Next to check is the carbon brushes and slip rings for pitting or wear, you can obviously check that when its on the bench.
