Default Self Tuning - Khyber G-10 (Plugs, valve clearance, spark gap etc)

    Salam

    dear members/experts

I own a khyber 1996. Recently overhauled its engine completely at home by myself except the mechanist part. It has its first oil change at 1100Km yesterday and i am planning to tune it. I have following query for the learned members/experts

Q.1. recommended spark plugs for khyber g-10 on CNG
    Q.2. Recommended spark plug gap?
    Q.3. Recommended tappet setting Hot/cold?
Q.4. Running was on petrol with Caltex Havoline formula and now i have switched to CNG with Shell helix HX7 10-40W (synthetic) , is shell HX7 ok?

What else should i do or check to get max output and efficiency from my g-10?

    regards

after-note: In addition to the above queries, this thread also contains info on carburetor, AC, electrical, cooling system, brakes & gear issues related to khyber G-10.

Special thanks to following experts :
Xulfiqar, Fas133, Margallar, Ahsanzs, wasay_Ahmad, Xplorer, jz, Daniyal
for their valuable contributions and last but not least
I am greatful to Cracked for keeping this thread alive by
    raising all the queries/question.

^^^ If you can open 16 bolts of sump your self then there must be no problem in removing only 2-4 bolts of silencer pipe. Our mechanics do not work well with oil seals and gaskets. They do not handle such delicate things with due care. So better you do it yourself if you want a neat and clean and tension free work that lasts longer.

    @cracked

I would also suggest you to do it your self if you have 10mm/14mm socket with a ratchet or T-rod a screw driver and some basic tools like hammer, goggles for your eyes safety against dirt and oil.

    Safety measures
    1. jack up the car properly and then put some addition support on both sides under the chassis frame and also block the tyres to avoid any unwanted movement.

    2. engine should not be hot and all the oil should be drained completely prior to this (the drain nut should be in place after draining).

    3. while underneath the car keep the goggles on and your face out of the way when you have done with all the bolts and pan is about to come off, it is a bit heavy so handle properly.

    4. dont over torque the bolts, tight them gradually in criss-cross pattern and repeat the cycle four to five times.

    5. use proper lighting underneath the car so you dont miss any thing and ensure that all the bolts go through the pan and the hole in the gasket and in to the block.

Cleanliness makes all the difference so clean up the pan and both contact surfaces thoroughly.

    ^ I got a gasket/seal for the oil chamber.
It was opened for the first time and it was sealed with silicone.

    @cracked
    What about the chamber seal?
    Did you search it?

pay very careful attention to the diagram above, the sealant is supposed to be thinly spread out exactly like shown.

    Aho,
I was talking about the oil pan gasket.
I thought that you will be using only silicone instead of the gasket.

why do we use silicon with gasket? Isn't just a gasket enough to seal?

What is used in genuine assembly; silicon only or gasket or gasket with silicon?

The oil pan originally comes sealed with silicone.
Once you open it then you have to use this gasket.

The original assy comes with silicone sealant only - Its not the regular red sealant you buy for Rs 40/-

Its a threebond product - TB1209 sealant - its very carefully applied like the diagram is shown, it will hold up very very nicely. This sealant is available in Karachi. I used to have a stack of such sealants to do any job properly.

If you have a hard time finding it - go to a toyota dealership and ask them for genuine toyota oil sump sealant - its a tube and would cost you about Rs 2000/- original and perfect.

    Thanks for the confirmation...
the tube is costly for me to keep... whats the price of it in karachi? and whats the size of the tube? As toyota shops prices are higher than market's.

Even with gasket, we use normal silicone, which leaks here and there. As this silicone cannot stick to metal in oily environment. What if we use some other adhesive with it which could also be easily cleaned off when reopened?
    Any ideas?
    We have epoxies, samad-bond, etc.

Is it near the tyres or the engine?
If it is from the tyres; check for any stuck brake pad... as over heating brake pads smell like rubber

If its from the engine; check any loose belts...
