Default Auto transmission engine swap in Khyber / charade

    Respected All,

As the title says, i am looking for expert opinions on the following questions:

    • can an auto transmission engine be swapped in Khyber? if yes, please suggest!
    • i know auto trnny have been swapped in Charades but the question is which one, considering it has to used on CNG
    • which swap is better : khyber or charade
i know these questions might sound as basics for experts but this would be a starting point for me!
Hopeful to get an early response.

An acquaintance swapped a 1.3 toyota corolla AT in his charade. I can't say it was a clean job, but it can be done. And it can be done cleanly as well.

A khyber however seems an easier job since lots of ATs are available in the used parts market for the automatic transmission cultus.

    Illude
i am planning to buy one!
the feedback that i got was that khyber would be an easy job for such swap!
want feedback from the experts to move an inch further.
have a plan to finalize this in my official leaves scheduled in November.
    Would appreciate any expert opinion!

in khyber....G13 carb or 4efe or G15 and for G15 auto from Apv.....works good

in charade you have alot of choices

but if you are working it with CNG

i will never recomand Khyber..as after any swap above 1000cc...you have no space to get CNG ....or even if you get..it will be all covered

    better try in charade ....

was waiting for you to respond specifically!
the plan is installing an auto transmission in Khyber?
charade is rated less as far as i am concerned!
i was told that there are multiple options of 1000cc auto transmission - suzuki engines in Bilal Gunj!
would you second my decision of going ahead with Khyber for this?

as stated in my reply to Rozz, there are options in the 1000cc category which do not require much alterations.
the car is not supposed to be racing machine, rather planned to be a daily driver in affordable price!

well bro going 1000cc with auto sounds good...

if you remamber ..some 1 spoted swift with 1000cc original auto.....they came with 3 gears

you have to find auto gear for 1000cc

1000cc carb which came in cultus from 2001 to 2007 also came with efi system on 3 cyl....they were in production with auto gears ....

but if you swap any cultus engine even a 1000cc...

that will require same amount of mount position change as g13 or g15 or even g16

baleno and cultus and margalla have same points...but khyber has lil different

1000cc will cost same as 1300cc or 1500cc......but then with CNg and ac it will be to much underpower

example is vitz 1000cc engine..on CNg with AC..some time ppl complain...but still that engine is 4 cyl and EFi and has almost 20 more hp then these engines and torque level as well

what i construe out of your reply is that there would be significant alterations / modifications in case of Khyber, be it 1000cc, 1300cc, 1500cc?
since it is to be used as a daily runner within the city, being underpower with 1000cc, CNGd wont be that big of an issue!
thanks in advance for sharing your views!

i mean to say level work for all engine will be same....

and fuel economy will be same as well..then 1300 or 1500 will be a good option

    Hello.

Yes it would be easier to swap a gearbox in you PakSuzuki Khyber. As automatic transmissions are easy to use. However, in the past, automatic transmissions of this type have had a number of problems: they were complex and expensive, sometimes had reliability problems (which sometimes caused more expenses in repair), have often been less fuel-efficient than their manual counterparts (due to "slippage" in the torque converter), and their shift time was slower than a manual making them uncompetitive for racing. With the advancement of modern automatic transmissions this has changed.

    Hey All,
The purpose of making this thread alive is that after driving my khyber for the last six odd months, i finally have some time in mid december to work on the auto transmission conversion. So,
    Experts:
Since i have decided to change the transmission only, what are the specific things that i have to look into. The gear is available in Bilal Gunj and he is asking 13K for it. As per him, the total installation and conversion cost would be around 27K. So the related quesions are:

    - Is the cost estimate in the correct range or needs to be worked out in detail;
    - What i been told is that radiator has to be changed. Your views along with any specific advice for changing any other particular thing.

    M waiting.
