    Default Khyber Startup on Petrol

    AOA WW,

Guys, i am having a start-up problem with my Khyber. I am running my car on Petrol, nowadays whenever I starts it in the morning it do not starts. After showing a match stick in Distributor for 4 to 5 seconds, the car starts in a normal way. What could be the possible problem ? Waiting for your replys.

    Regards,
    Kashif Rafiq

try not using accelerator while cold cranking. Are you using choke?

What is your idea behind the matchstick in the carburetor. Are you trying to displace or burn out excess fumes accumulation....???

Do not use throttle in first try(not more than 5 sec of trying) . If it doesnt start use throttle not more than one fourth of the total travel. Never pump the pedal during cranking, it will flood the carb.

If it does not help, check your mixture setting. If you are not using cng these days, retard the ignition timing for petrol setting.

I don't light the match stick while the Engine is ON state, rather i do this after completely switching OFF the ignition. I myself don't know the logic behind this, but it works for me at least .

Even in off state - u should avoid it.
U must seen a local mechanic doing this....

Visit some good workshop and tune your car.

I used this match stick once when it was raining heavily in karachi, i was stuck and with me there were many other cars, a cab driver told me to get a lighter and used it in carbeuretor. I did that and it started in just one ignition, then i drove out of there and again stucked in deep water that made my car stopped again.
Then i borrowed a match box from a pathan and used it in carbeuretor and it helped me again, it is usually used to dry instantly and to make it a bit warmer.
so Always keep a match box with you specially in rain.
It helped me out so i always keep one with me on petrol or cng.

Guys, this problem arises in this winter season. This happened with me only when I don't start the car for 3 to 4 days or park the car in an open environment. Any further suggestion ???

i think matchstick is not necessary. try leaving the carb open for a minute then start.
i think it will have same effect.
anyways a matchstick cant cant warm a carb.

kashif rafiq before you blow up your house & burn yourself to 3rd degree treat yourself grounded. stay away from car borrow a bicycle from someone nearby and use as mode of transportation.

i read twice what you posted . a match stick in carb.... whoever gave you that idea is ONE HELL OV A ULLO KA PATHAA.

Petrol is highly inflamable fuel and causes 3rd degree burns.

your car ignition system neeed adjustment distributor may be haggling and timings must be out.

if you use tap water in radiator flush it now and use coolant and get thermostat valve back in its place to over come the cold weather.

if you were joking about the matchstick, - it was not funny at all.

Sorry to all guys, there is a huge huge misunderstanding. I don't light the match stick in carb, rather it's Distributor.

I think "3dkhurram" also call the distributor a carburettor?
