Default Low Patrol Average of Suzuki Khyber 98...

    Hello Friends,

Hope you all will be fine and enjoying CNG hartaal...Anyways i have calculated my Patrol mileage of Suzuki Khyber 98 which came around to be 8.33 K.m /litre Which is too low...I would like to ask few things:
    1. Is this normal average on Patrol for Khyber or is it too low...?
    2. If it is too low, Then please tell me the details of the mechanic in islamabad which can tune it quiet well to achieve the normal mileage,

Waiting for you Guys Response at the earliest,

My Khyber 2000 was giving me around 6 Km/L. Got the carburettor serviced today. Sparking plugs also cleaned and gap adjusted. Lets see how much improvement does that make.

A properly maintained Khyber is a very fuel efficient car. Back in 2002, we bought a zero meter 2000 model. It went for days on 200 rs of petrol, with A/C frequently used (petrol was 30 rs per liter). That ,too, in Karachi traffic. In fact, my father never felt the need to install cng in it back then.

Get your engine's compression tested, get spark plugs properly gaped, set the ignition timing properly, get your fuel pump checked, and get your carburetor tuned from Enercon. Also, keep tires properly inflated at all times. Improperly inflated tires have been proven to decrease fuel economy by around 25%.

Update: I think the main reason for high fuel consumption is a leak in the carburetor. For example, the throttle butterfly plate might have a hole in it. That was the problem with my Cultus, just discovered it today. Get it fixed =P

    Default Update

So after that Carburettor service, sparking plugs cleaning and petrol tuning, I have calculated the mileage of my Khyber.
Filled up the petrol tank upto the neck, and turned the odometer to 0000. Drove 142 Km, went to the same pump and filled the tank to its neck again. 15 Liters of petrol was poured in.

    142/15 = 9.4 Km/L

Very very bad for 1000cc car. The car was driven on Islamabad roads, no traffic congestion conditions.

On CNG my Khyber also performs very well. It gives me around 180 Km in one cylinder in Islamabad local driving.

if your spark plugs, ignition coil, ignition cables and ignition /engine timing are perfect then carby needs mixture adjustment.
