Default Car isnt starting on petrol.

I have a suzuki khyber. Its not working on petrol since last night. I use petrol almost daily in between while using cng. But last night cng ended nd after then it refused to start on petrol. During the process of starting, battery went down. Used dhikkka process but no work. Finally brought it home after tying with a frienda car. Inspcted in morning. Fuel filter is empty although there is almost 20 ltr ptrol. Filter contains reddish brown mud. I have cleaned my fuel tank two months back nd changed fuel filter after that. I tried to suck petrol but petrol isnt coming. In night during my travel back to home i tried many times to make it start by putting in 2nd gear nd leaving ckutch. It tends to start some time but dont take acceleration. Nd final thing. There was petrol smell in bonet even bonnet closed.

slow jet can get clogged with ease and ive had first hand experience of it,3-4 times in a week.problem was the float was not set properly by mechanic when i had my carb serviced.so when car was running on CNG,obviously there wasnt any petrol in float chamber,so float hung freely and was actually touching the chamber base, which was causing it to dissolve due to excessive heat..and when i'd convert to petrol, that debris would clog up the slow jet causing all sort of problems. so i opened up my carb my self at home, after alot of tries, set the carb perfectly so that it wont touch the base when float chamber is empty.so try checking out for the said problem too.might come handy for you.opening up the carb is not an easy job,but ive seen it being opened by mechanic 2-3 times and now i can open it my self and do a little cleaning myself.but i'd suggest you to go to the mech, and check for the problem i had.and yes the slow jet is just on the top,so if problem lies, whole carb wont need opening, all that needs to be done would be taking carb off the car, open up its head and voila, there is the slow jet

lucky you the float didn't leak, but the car should still idle even with the jets blocked

Quote Originally Posted by Xulfiqar View Post

The top hat of the carburettor has tiny air passages in it to "foam" the fuel and be properly utilised in the idle circuit at the throttle opening. If it is plugged - the fuel quantity increases ten fold as raw liquid is sucked (black smoke). If its clean then recheck the float height for correct working and also check that the throats are installed correctly - infact the engine should idle even with primary and secondary jets blocked. The idle circuit takes care of that.

    how a carby works

1 - idle speed = idle to fast idle rpm
2 - 1000 rpm to midrange - 3000 rpm plus idle circuit (primary throttle open, secondary closed)
3 - 3000 - 6000 rpm = secondary circuit plus primary circuit plus idle circuit. (both throttles opened fully)

first we need a khyber owner to post pics of his carb vacuum pipe connections so we can compare those with yours, if there is any problem it should be corrected, if that fixes it then problem solved, otherwise we move to the next step.....openining it

any chance you can come to lahore? a friend of mine is great with carburetors

Still running on cng. But whenever tried to convert to petrol. It converted fine. It starts fine on petrol but dont stable. Even my foot on accelerator, it burps. Tends to stop. So is this the issue of slow jet. Or petrol is getting over?

It will need to be opened by the symptoms you describe, but I would first check the vacuum connections with another car before opening. This is a delicate part so I don't suggest letting any inexperienced person mess with it.
