Default Do Liana and Swift have the same engine?

Hi Pakwheelers, does anyone know if Liana and Swift have the same engine?

I have heard that Liana's engine has to have it's coils changed after around 50,000 kilometers in any case, no matter how well the car has been driven and maintained.

Most cars in Pakistan are twin turbo. Turbo 1=Turn AC OFF. Turbo 2=Switch Car from CNG to Petrol

I have used liana as well. It a good car with a very bad CNG system. Liana and Swift are the same. even the dashboard and seats are same. You can assume Swift as a Liana without trunk. Main issues with Liana are its coils and CNG. if you are running it on petrol, its fine. But my advice is to go for a car which suzuki tried to copy by making Swift and its VITZ. way better than any car arounf with a very good consumption, ABS etc
    <!-- / message -->
Lol actually its toyota that copied Swift in Vitz, suzuki produced the design not toyota. Swift is the international award winning desgin of suzuki and also used in rally races... and vitz is a copy of tht design.

plus - Liana is also a very successful car internationally, and most of the problems here are due to CNG, the cars flawless itself..

Sir factory coils work good for 40-60K kms, after that its a tricky thing and a chance, aftermarket coils can last for 10k or 40k on CNG depending on quality of coils and spark plugs used.

LIANA is a big flop, discontinued worldwide in 2007, if you want to prove its success, give PW members the slaes numbers in any country or any award winning.

Vitz was launched in 1999 and its sales was atleast 10 times more then LIANA and even more then swift in 2003, it has nothing to do with SWIFT.

Second generation Vitz was an upgrade to the 1st Gen one.

    Dear Sir,
The old shape Xli was discontinued in Pakistan in 2008.
Does that mean it was a flop?
No, my dear man. All cars are replaced with newer models internationally

The Liana got replaced with the SX-4. Simple stuff.
Like every other car model in the world.

How does that indicate the car was a flop?

Coming to the swift, we are comparing the current shapes in Pakistan sir.

The "new" shape vitz came about in 2005, while the current swift shape came in 2004.
    A year's gap, sir.

And if u say Vitz was launched in 1999, then Swift has been around since the 1980's!

We are comparing the shape, sir, not the the launch dates.
The older swift and vitz have no similarity.
The similarity is in 04 onwards swift, and 05 onwards vitz.

Since the swift was introduced first, and the vitz a year later, it is easy to see where the vitz got its inspiration.

Please bear in mind that I am not implying in any way that one of the two is a better car than the other.
Both cars have their own respective market segments, and they cater wonderfully to those.

I am just clarifying a few things regarding model shapes(swift vs vitz) and model changes( Liana being "banned" in 2007).

    Peace.

^ il add that Vitz is a renamed Toyota Starlet.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

And there were similarities in the shapes of Starlet and Swift MK-1.

bottom line: both vitz and swift are good cars. Vitz sells far higher though and is available in more markets than swift (US for e.g).

Liana did not sell well at all. SX4 is better but has still failed to capture any significant market share. SX4 sales in the US are very low although it sells well in other countries like India.

yes every car gets a facelift at one point and is discontinued
but if u read 959's post he stats Liana was a flop due to its poor worldwide sales
while Corolla is one of the most popular car in the world

^^ the engine is good but the non vvt version of M13A found in Pakistani Liana and Swift is not very fuel efficient.

both have same engines in pakistan...but internationally liana was never released in a 1.3 or 1.6 variant, it was launched with a 1.5 and 1.8 engines and in USA it was released in 2.0 and 2.3 variant. So in Pakistan they are using exact same engine of swift with a different head. So its safe to say that liana has a swift's engine.

Even Suzuki Jimny Imported has same engine ...

    Jimny

I guess engine isn't bad, usage with CNG has some compatibility issues.
