what did you feel the car was doing?
i assume, the idling issue which is the major outcome of ''morning sickness''.What morning sickness is called in autos field that car on its very first start of a day like starting a cold engine overnight,it starts missing in idle speed of engine.
    did you feel it?
Te engine was missing all the time. There wasn't any idle issue. But the car lacked power. I have had the valves replaced from an auto shop. It cost me 20k but the car is still not up to power. It just does not climb any hill. The mechanic said drive it a couple of days to let the valves and particularly the tappets get adjusted as these are hydraulic tappets and they set in place with use. He has asked me to bring the car to him this weekend and he will advance the timing. He says most probably even advancing the timing will not solve the issue it is likely to be an electric fault so he will find the fault if the timing does not help.

as you stated, engine was missing all the time and you did not had the idle issue both opposite remarkshow can it be possible for an engine which is missing always, it idles perfect?

I don't know if these are opposites or not. By idling perfect i mean the RPM was stable at 1. The car did not stall. Just that the running wasn't smooth. When he opened the head one of the cylinders was completely black and the valves jammed in their sockets. I want your advice regarding advancing timing. Is it likely to wear the engine out? The car just dies on both petrol and CNG in first and second gears but once it gather speed it runs just fine.

you are charged too much for this job,its my personal observation anyway it can be dealt with a technique but by some ustad "real Ustad' mechanic, what they do ,they do drop the valve into combustion chamber, ream the guide, pull the valve back into guide.
Another temporary fix is solvents though they are not well available locally but still there are solvents which can un stick a valve eventually the valve may un-stick, but not before your camshaft lobes have been damaged.secondly this way the solvent dissolves the outer deposits inside the valve guide to temporarily un stuck the valve, residue left cause un even guide wear(valves are made with hard steel where as guides are usually cast iron) later when the stem is forced against the guide material opposite of the deposit buildup.
Now you have got your car's work done, did they check the cam lubes, they are **** to get damaged when a valve sticks and the cam followers as well.
Pay particular attention to the oil change intervals and engine warm up in morning starts and good unleaded fuel from now on.

    Default Advancing timing

Will advancing the timing help with acceleration? Now the car doesn't go in the first or the second gears. it does not climb any hill or incline. The mechanic is suggesting advancing the timing.

advancing the timing will surely enhance the lower end torque, but you will have to deal it with higher octane fuel other wise detonation or in some case crank shaft loss
what the timing advance actually is in simple words like crank completes its one circle of 360 degree for example in one minute and you are going to rotate it in 55 seconds, this movement will surely disturb the other settings with your car's ecu.
in short, advancing of the timing creates a change in the position of the piston when it receives the flame front ignited with the help of spark plugs and in general, each one degree of additional advance seems to bring the torque curve back by approximately 100 rpm. By advancing the timing by four degrees it has the effect of delivering torque at 2,600 rpm that would normally be realized at 3,000 rpm.
''Of course, keep in mind that top end torque is adversely impacted in, about the same ratio''.
The risk in advancing the timing is that the flame front (the increase in pressure) from the burning air/fuel mix strikes the piston head before or too close to TDC to create the optimum forward rotation of the crank.
If the downward force applied by the combustion reaches the top of the piston, before the piston is able to react, with a downward motion then the force is ''directly to the crank shaft'', rather than to the rotation (just like when landing on a stiff surface legs transmits the thrust to the hip).
The ignite and burn time for higher RON fuel is longer than of lower RON fuel. Lower RON fuels means the flame front hits the piston top sooner than with a high octane fuel. If the flame front hits the piston too soon the crank angle will not be in the right angle range to commence its downward stroke. The result can be premature detonation. That is why high octane fuel can be good to deal with the situation.
In hot weather like these days, oxygen atoms are less in a given volume of air than in winter so again high octane fuel is better to avoid knocking because ecu will lean out the air/fuel mixture and last but not least you might have to move one step towards cooler heat range plugs.

Thumbs up Comfortable and Economical Liana

I owned a Liana from Dec 2007 to Jan 2011. Its indeed a good car. Smooth, comfortable and economical ride.

The best milage that I got from its 60Ltr (2x30Ltr factory fitted) CNG cylinder was 233km (from Gujar Khan to Thokar Niaz Baig, Lahore via G.T. Road & Lahore Bypass) with AC running till Gujranwala and it still had almost 10 bar pressure in the cylinders.

Drove it in the north all the way from Lahore to Abbotabad and Mansehra via Murree, Khanispur and in south all the way to Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

If I'll go for sedan, I am pretty much sure that Liana will be among top cars in my list!

Now that's a fair judgement & comments after having experienced the car. Unlike most of the haters who actually haven't even driven once... who religiously propagate suni sunae tales from chachu, mamu, uncle & uncle's uncle.... So unfortunate with this sedan!!!!!

I am able to spot one or two Liana per week here at my new location. What I am curious is to find the CNG tag in any of them but till now no luck.

This country still do not know the wonders CH4 can do when pressurized rightly.

No its after market. Went to the suzuki authorised dealer he said they don't have the software for it. After all that i ve read and also your suggestions i think i should avoid advancing the timing and ask the mechanic to look for some electrical issue. The car's coils have been replaced so it may be the coils or the cables as they have been lengthened and i can see tape to cover the joint of the extension cable. The manual suggests iridium plugs so maybe that is the solution.

what type of advancer it have for cng?
the thing which makes mind to recalculate the issue is,your car is not picking up even on petrol.
Remove the plug wires and install optima wires, will cost your near 1.5k per set, at first leisure.
