Thread: Engine Knocking in Automatic Vehicle

    Question Engine Knocking in Automatic Vehicle

    Salam every body. i have a liana 1.3 automatic and a while ago, the engine started to give knocking sound at nearly 1800 rpm, same as in manual cars when given acceleration in high gear and low speed. i took the car to many workshops including suzuki and magic motors. here is the list of things that i did.
    diagnostic test with no error code, compression test resulting in 180, 160, 160, 180, cleaned throttle body, maf sensor, o2 sensor, changed plugs and plug wires, adjusted tappits (magic motors suggested they were a bit tight), used purely high octane but the knocking is not going any where.
    now few friend are suggesting that i should swap the engine. what do the experts suggest here. here are are few questions in my head.
    the car has 175k on clock, does it mean that engine is weak even though it doesn't consume oil?
    is it the bad gear ratio of auto trany?
    please help. thank you so much.

    what spark plugs are you using in it? and how old are they?

    the people in RED - get rid of them they are bad company, Compression figures are of healthy engine with enough muscle into it.

    dont sweat it capsat - Im pretty sure the same bandwagon assumes that they can swap a toyota 2JZ into a liana too.

    the next IN thing is "meri car sivapped he" people want a car that looks like a rolls royce, has a toyota engine that can be repaired with 5 tools only and its spares/lubes can be sourced from "teen dabbay wala or parchoon ki dukaan"

    maybe give the engine a good thrashing for a bit, does it go out of city (long drive)

    I am facing a similar issue with my 07 Mira. Running on pure hi-octane for past few days but still the noise is not going anywhere :s
    I have been using guard engine oil n filter for quite sometime.
    The knocking issue used to be there earlier too but it used to subside with hi-octane fuel.

    I am using ordinary ngk plugs and i change them every 10k km. What do u guys recomend. Yes the car goes out of city and the more u thrash, the more it knocks.

    Also, could it be the problem of coils? There is no missing however. Very nice example up there. :-)

    Have you ever done any work on cylinder head? like head gasket replacement / head facing etc....

    get a workshop to plot the wave signal of the crank sensor and cam sensor - if its a bit off the engine will knock.

    Also can u plz recomend a workshop? Im tired of the reluctent mechanics who dont want to do any tests.

    plug change at 10000 km bhai ap used plug mujhay sale kar deya karo at 50% price of new ap ki salam ap ki azmat ko salam ap ki mechanic ko 100 jootay
