    Default Repairing of ignition coils

    Dear all,

Since ignition coils go faulty in liana and baleno, so, is there any possibility of their repairing? Technically they are just like transformers, stepping up the current from the battery. So i believe there are no hifi circuits involved. Original coils are insanely expensive and chinese doesnt last long.

Also, a patakha on starting is due to bad coils?

Yes they are repairable....problem is not with the transformer core of these coils.....they have some design issues...they develop minor cracks at place where their lower HT wire or boot whatever you call it, gets connected. Just fill in epoxy at right place and you are good to go...did it myself....but if you are unlucky to burn or damage transformer coil they they need to be replaced, there is no other way as they cannot be opened for repair, they are sealed forever when they are manufactured..

did you try shops other than 3s dealers? i wish i could help more but i have not dealt with coil over plug setup.

i suppose any coil that fits and has acceptable primary resistance can work

when you are dealing with 25KV electric tape that can hold back that voltage is usually not a "dukaandaar item"

The coils are not repairable due to the fact that you have to destroy them to take them apart. However there are a number of other manufacturers that are making replacements for these, most from china..

They are repairable in Plaza the spring, (resistor) is replaced but that is a 100% as you call it jugaar.

ULTIMA brand coils are avalible in the market and are very good.

for Baleno/Liana if your using CNG please change the spark plugs to DENSO IK-20. Most of your issues would be solved. The coils die because of back firing on CNG.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

They are claimed to be Pakistani, But maybe they are Chinese and being branded as Pakistani.

Yes IK20 are iridium plugs, Not sure about mileage but the waste spart system (2 coils 2 plug wires) systems are suppose to work better with iridium plugs.

Some people might tell you that you should use ik16 but on Densos website IK20 is recomended because of the waste spark system.

Waste spark system applies to Santro, Baleno, Liana, Jimny, APV, Lancer

    in simple words,

all others cars have 1 coil per cylinder, waste spark system cars have 2 coils and 2 normal plug wires, 2 cylinders are dependent on the first cylinder.

On CNG the combustion in the chamber isn't as required by the petrol engine hence these cars run fine on petrol but misfire on CNG because of the low current generated.
