    Default Liana ABS quality....

    yesterday, i set out on a rash driving rampage to test the ABS function of my Liana sport, i tried to find deserted place for this task and finally made my mind to carry out the test on margalla road near the last yellow blinking signal toward f-10 round about as it was quite deserted at around 4pm so, i accelerated my car to 100km/h to test the brakes when all of a sudden i found a hidden cop with speed cam and unfortunately had to turn in my driving license (challan). Pehla test to udhar ka udhar hee reh gaya...then i didn't lose hope and took the challan paper as my license to proceed with the ABS test...after 25 mins, while returning to my home via the 11th avenue portion right in front of al-huda foundation f-10 :[ , i found the whole road deserted and then i accelerated to 100km/h again and applied brakes with every force i got in my legs and started hearing loud on/off tyre skidding noise..during that i tilted my steering a little toward right to test the extent of tyre jam, all i could notice was that the car
    COULDN'T
    turn smoothly and started to drift to turn somewhat towards right. Then after i stopped the car completely, i parked it off the road and took out the measuring tape to measure the length of tyre marks..the tyre skidding marks were 2+ meters on average and the unskidded portion was less than a meter. To reaffirm my observations, i conducted the test again only to find the same result. To date, i have tried this test in many luxury to superluxury cars and found a quite different result...
    NO SKIDDING MARKS AND V.V.V.V.V.V.V.V SMOOTH TURNING DURING THE ABS PROCESS
    ...the reason to post this thread is to aware others to treat their ABS enabled Liana like a non-ABS one...to standardize the result, i'm also planning to test the Liana that my friend has...I have also tested the ABS system of Civics and its of quite a superior class just like the one that luxury cars have.
    It will be great if u guys post ur ABS testing results too just to aware other car owners..:-)

    Lesson Learnt: -

    Even Pakistani Cars follow the old sub-continental "memory loss after a bang on the head" theory!! (young pakwheelers who don't know what I am talking about, rent out any 70's Amitabh flick, and you'll know what I mean )

    Good having my knowledge enhanced.

    I have 2 local cars both with ABS and none with EBD :p. Vti & Altis.

    Both cars dont skid at all and stop nicley without problems at all. But -

    They always make a ghrrr sound everytime the ABS is activated. Although I have driven foreign cars on various road conditions and they all stop "soundless" (Y). Wonder why these dont ... :s

    And then as far as steering is concerned - the car has power steering

    @HG
    janaab, altis and vti are both EBD equipped check again...

    BTW: liana also has ABS with EBD but the kit they are using is the one used in trucks and is bound to these sort of lunatic behaviors. there are various types of ABS kits depending on the number of sensors and actuators...

    @ insaan

    You, Sir, please check again

    I have 2003 August Vti , u sure with EBD ^o)

    And how come on the Altis advertisements and on websites, they say " the car is safely equipped with ABS and Brake Assist to enhance braking power..."...they dont mention EBD anywhere.

    Now I know why its " Trusts On Yamaha's Outdated Technical Assistance "

    Hello!
    thats what i am thinking.......!
    well I have seen how Vitz behave on ABS....! its superb without any of skids or marks on road...once my friend was coming at 60-70km/h as suddenly one taxi driver came in front without watching out traffic on road......he can't do anything beside braking and what he did......! he said....i am sure than its gonna bang......! but car stop just some inches away from taxi.....!
    he said Vitz ABS works awsome...as vitz have just front wheel discs.......! but still it work as good as it has to be....!
    well....that self activating and deactivating thing of Liana's ABS is quiet irritating.......! surely in city drive...when it happens...you are pissed off for sure....!
    Curse on You SUZUKI this is what i can say....!

    The prb is kay even 15 yr old kidz are reading the forums , they try to test their cars in the same way as others ..
    i hope u got my point buddy

    according to my info,abs does NOT keep da tyres unjammed at hard braking.its only for decreasing da jamming ffect a lil bit nd a car wid abs wud sure jam if da brakes r applied hardly.

    thats wat i read on pw sumwhere not sure abt it.is it right??
    i noticed da abs of my cuzon's 01 civic nd it gave sum quiet encouraging results....bt that was at low speeds.

    @ahmad

    I didnt exactly get what u were saying bro,but

    ABS is anti lock braking system which is acomputer detecting braking pressure and wheel-lockup due to slick road(s) or intensive braking pressure applied.

    So, when you you fully apply brakes, and the wheels begin to lock up, the ABS computer automatically reduces braking pressure to free the wheel(s), then stop them again with respect to braking pressure applied by driver.

    With a proper functioning ABS system, good tires & good driver, your car should NOT spin, skid or screech whatsoever under any braking condition.

    For more info, please ask here or privately @ rizwansyed30@yahoo.com

    Thanks.

    @Lowresolution...
    i don't think testing brakes can spoil car in any sense....! if you do it correctly.....!
    ABS means Anti-Lock Braking System.........!! i think it can clear what its made for....!

    the car wasnt steering because of break assist thats very usefull on curvey roads ....abd who said that ABS dont leave skid marks ,,thats the evidence of force transfer...try it again on wet roads and on sand and then notice the difference.

    and one more thing if you apply breaks hard at high speed ar at low and while the breake padel is pressed and you move the steering the car will adjust its breaks according to the steering and go straight aven it you steer left or right...
    Im not intrested in cars....Im intrested in technolgy .

    i'm sure i've been driving ABS enabled cars for some 10 yrs now and i'm well aware of the ABS performance of other cars ..to date, i havent seen tyre marks of ABS cars but lianas. If brake assist evades the steering, then my friend...ABS has no purpose..:-)
