    Default Liana, success or failure?

    Suzuki Liana was launched with very high hopes in Pakistan back in 2005 (started assembling in 2006) .. was also called as the best Suzuki ever produced in Pakistani market. Though its about 3 years Liana is present in the market but somehow unable to grasp the market. Although it offers so much in a comparatively low price tag, the worst quality issues from PakSuzuki are very frequently found in the Lianas. Rxi is the only version which is somewhat being sold. other versions like LXI, Eminent & Sport have seen a tough time here. Competitors like Xli and City are the other main factors.. but even globally Liana's life is too short.. it was launched in 2001 and was 'discontinued' globally in 2006, just when it started to assemble in Pakistan

    What could be the reason that this car (which seems very nice in its package) couldn't do well both locally and globally? or we should wait more and see if it gains its repo...??

    @retro: u say Khyber and Margalla were excellent cars and nobody ever complained about them...yet u also say Pak Suzuki makes lousy cars.....

    tell me, how can it be? Khyber and Margalla were also made by same Pak Suzuki, so how can they be better then Liana or Cultus?

    allow me to clarify:

    1. Khyber and Margalla both were made much more rigid and durable and BTW i owned both of them so I know

    2. Even Cultus had good quality till 2005 after they they screwed it big time.

    I wanna clear that these older model cars were much better than the current crap

    3. Yes the current IDSI has low pickup and there is no debate about it. But liana is not at all brilliant on pickup. DOnt wanna bring this up, u wanna race so do it with the older 2001 1.3 90 BHP city

    the production & sales figures for Liana are not healthy at all.. i hope Pak Suzuki will be seriously looking into it

    wow at one point u say owner's comments only and then negate them........kool indeed!!!

    BTW i also mentioned earlier that Lancer and Sunny and nice cars but i dont own any and also mentioned many times that Liana is a good car expect for QC and i dont own that as well (just driven it quite a bit)

    @retro: i m not negating...u must be right for Khyber and Margalla....but u don't own a Liana hence ur opinion is biased....cause all three are from same manufacturer, and newer models are always better than previous ones.

    @lotus: sales r not everything buddy, u know that. anyways, i don't know where all the civics r going, cause they r not on the roads at least.

    PakSuzuki will soon consider replacing Liana as its almost 3 years of existence in our market, yet unable to make its mark (atleast compared to other suzuki models) After Margalla they have seen a hard time to standout in sedan segment

    ^Pak Suzuki's main product r small vehicles eg Mehran, Alto, Cultus, Bolan, Ravi etc..Liana is just a bonus for them, to get a share out of the sedan market.

    I don't think they ever expected to outsell other brands, but just to get some market with Liana.

    Don't think Liana will be replaced for another 3-4 years, as they had to install a separate plant for it..

    and Margalla was the only locally assembled sedan at that time, there was no City and Corolla was imported till 1995 i think....so Margalla remained without competitors..

    ^^but don't u think Suzuki's graph (talking about sedans) is coming down with each new model they introduce... Margalla was the best seller, then Baleno suffered a bit and now Liana seeing the worst of its time making ground in our market.. and by saying that Margalla remained without competitors, didn't u mean to say that Suzuki cars are only successful as long as their is "NO" competition whatsoever, and when there is some competition, they suffer!

    Margalla was equipped with least number of options as compared to Baleno & Liana, but the quality control at that time was 1000 times better than what Suzuki is rolling out these days.. even if u compare a 98 mehran with the one that comes out today, u will agree to the fact that the ten year old suzuki was much better built than the 4.5lac junk of today... same is the case with Baleno, the 98-99 was much better built than the later models.. and Liana... everyone knows...

    even the discount offer was a bad move by suzuki, they did manage to sell a few Lianas but everyone knows what has happened to them, and most importantly it has strengthened the anti-liana psychology in the buyer's mind and its something suzuki will never love to see.

    That is because there are more competitors as time advances...Maragalla was the only locally assembled Sedan, its price must be significantly lower than an imported Corolla or Civc, thats why it sold well. And as far as numbers are concerned, i'm sure each newer model would have outsold its predecessor..its too early for Liana but lets wait for another 3-4 years.
    I can't say if Pak Suzuki deteriorated their QC after 98 or not, but I know my colleagues had new Khyber in 1991 and they also complained..
    I agree the discount offer by Pak Suzuki was not a great idea, although I benefitted from it..and it was one of the reasons I chose a Liana.
    Bottom line....sales are not everything! as far as the quality/performance of a car is concerned...neither is resale value. To identify a good product you only need your mind.

    and Margalla was never compared to the Corolla or Civic of its time..but Liana is now comparable and on same lines (only better if someone can open their eyes). So, is it improvement or not?

    I want to ask just one question to all of those who are considering LIANA as a flop due to its less selling figures.

    Please name me just one car (in 1300 cc or above) which is introduced in last 3 or 4 years and have better sale record as compared to LIANA?
