Ok guy for last about 16 years ever since i have started taking car of my car i have been told to keep my engine oil level to upper limit ...that is to say when we check the oil level with the stick (guage) there are two marks on it and i have been told that oil level should be touching the upper level....However yesterday someone said that oil level is ok even if it is in between the two marks on the oil checking stick ......kindly let me know what should be done...cause in new corolla we have to add additional .5 litre oil from new box to keep this level to upper level...
it doesnt have to be touching the upper mark, but if it is, good. should NEvER go below the minimum!
And if for some reason, the level in your car is decreasing, there might be some problem (burning, leaking etc).. it should not decrease by itself.
It is safe and normal if oil level is between that 2 marks. If oil level cross lower limit or upper limit then it can be dangerous for engines.
U dont need to put extra oil if ur oil level is a bit lower than upper mark. But if level reaches to mid of both marks then U should put some oil of same type.
Normally on CNG engines decrease oil after running 3k to 4k KM (Read on internet few months back).
No my car is not decreasing oil its just that when i get oil replaced in new corolla they ask for 4.5 liters to get it fill to upper mark other wise if we use one 4 liter pack the level is slightly below the upper mark .....so i was wondering if i cud skip that extra half liter during oil chnage:)
