Ive been doing swaps in pakistan since more than 10 years now, and I speak of experience, when an average mechanic in pakistan does a swap they usually dont take into consideration the long term effect. they need their money and you being the owner is their money.
The front drive axles being the most wearing part in FWD in pakistan - it will become useless as most shops weld the inner joint innards and make it unbalanced (high frequency vibration at speed destroying the differential bearings) and making replacement equally horrible. Original CV joints are made with precision for a reason (safety, longevity and easy replacement) The lathe shops in Pakistan do not know how to heat treat an axle rod for proper strength even if they milled the new drive teeth on them.
I have seen an insane amount of charade swaps end up in tears - the cars did not even run for 20,000 kms - and even in that period they were always being repaired.
Topping the cake is welding the chassis legs every year becuase they crack and spread at the firewall and bulkhead; only because our genius mechanics did not realize that they need to install the OEM rear member crossbar as found on 3cyl GTti and all 4 cyl charades.
And the wiring is always a joke - they (sasta electrician) use electric tape in the engine room and dont care for properly using original fail safes for wiring up relays etc.
no hard feelings but its the truth:)
