Sorry to interrupt, but I have a question regarding the main bearings.
I drive a 96 Civic Exi. Bought the car when it had approx 90,000 km on the motor. At time time the engine made a whistling noise while accelerating. But the whistling sound only appeared on medium acceleration. Accelerating hard or accelerating slowly there is no whistling noise from the engine. I got it checked from the Honda dealership, they said the noise is coming from the big ends. But they said there was no need to replace them since they are good for another 50,000 km at least.
So I completely ignored it now my car has done 223,000km. The whistling noise is still there but it has neither increased nor decreased. It's pretty much the same as it was at 90,000km.
My question is that was the original diagnosis correct. If it was correct then how come there has been no increase in noise from the big ends despite having been driven for over 223,000km.
If the faint whistling sound is caused by something else, what could it be?
Again sorry for interrupting your post but since my problem seemed similar I thought it might be more helpful to post it here.
Thanks
