This is the top of a mercedes benz OM606 diesel engine.
its usually this clean any given day if you use proper diesel rated oil in it. You can see some oil on the timing chain - its very black, thats nice because the metal bits of the engine are very clean - thats good oil. A hot oil change from the dipstick tube will render the same results as done from the sump.
The sump drain will require the mechanic/owner to get under the car and remove the belly pan first. In other words - you cannot see the engine from underneath - its a closed compartment with its exhausts facing backwards.
