Salam PWs,
I know this is one of the common issues and discussed and directed properly, yet need some guidance before going to any mishtri...!
2 weeks back,I went to get solved the sqeaking sound due to defective bearing and also to get coolant changed in honda city idsi 06.
With doing so the dealer mentioned the thermostat valve is missing, so,I asked to put new one but he suggested not to replace it as it might have been removed due to some issue + plus new one was not available with him ( as at that time I was not knowing enough about thermostat functioning and importance and effects if missing, so I was okay with it). So, the bearing changed, coolant changed + some hoses and also manual transmission + air filter ( no tuning n engine oil change done b/c of late hours).
Afterwards, he made me hear this sound of engine which was not so unique to me and as a noob I dnt knw much diferences among the sounds ( I wil post the video soon). So he said 'engine ko maar padi hui he, buht local chali he or shayad aagay chal ke change karni paday, koi baat nh honda city ka saman mehnga nh.' It shook me for the moment as I didnt expect such thing, as during purchase I got engine checked for its health ( may be, didnt get it fully checked as this was first buy and that so from a bro's friend).
I can only recall that in summers, the car never heated up enough to show the re sign and in winter the heater threw the warm air quite late. Later it came to my knowledge that the friend had the T- valve removed precautiously about 1 n half yrs ago frm now coz his other car got seized due to overheat.
Now, I dont know what to believe.
if I go to other mishtri log, they will check in their own way and some wil try to create the delusions, illusions n hallucinations ( as that dealer might had) n get me ripped off.
I need to know;
1. How much damage has the absent T-valve put on engine efficiency ( I read that its absence decrease fuel economy + engine wear n tear )?
2. How to diagnose the damage as he said, engine ko jo maar padi he, kese pata chalay ( I couldnt asses from the drive myself) ?
3. Should I reinstall the T-valve ASAP?
4. If there had been any overheat problem earlier, should I reinstall the thermostat n then monitor for overheating n later make its diagnosis n solution done?
P.s I bought the car at 45k a year ago n now its 55k driven. I use castrol maganetic 5w-30( previously used zic hiflo 20w-50), with guard oil filter, changed every 3 months ( no matter how much is driven).
