@peter
i never said the K swaps in the 01-05 civics are common to begin with...having said that...i should add that the K motors are preferred more than the B or H swaps for obvious reasons. The reason why the two swaps are not common is cuz they don’t make sense..lol...but that doesn’t mean that they cant be done…with money, you can do anything. Mostly honda civic motors are tranverse engines..meaning the the crank is set sideways (east to west)..and by this principle…the B, H and the D motors rotate and spin the same way…hence are swappable.
the d17A (d16w9 in your case) is rated at a max 127 hp and is vtec also. So for us in north America…the 01-05 stock motor has more capacity than the B16..with good quality bolt-ons and some ecu tuning…you can easily..and I say again…easily surpass the 160hp max. that the B16 is rated at. The same goes for the d16w9 motor.
i don’t know anyone personally (01-05 civic swapped with a B or H) but ive read on hondatech that these swaps are simpler than the K swap (however not attempted that frequently)...and less pricey too. For the K, HASport makes mounts both for K20 & K24 swaps for the 01-05 civics. if mounts are not available for the b and h…they can be custom made.
I will find that link for you and post it here.
