yaar i disagree with both of the above replies.... ac in mehran.... a big no.. and ac in cng mehran... a big big no...
last year i drove a 04 model mehran in mint condition for around a week. and i had to carry to extra bottles of water to cool the engine down. caz as soon as the ac is turned on in city.... the temperature guage hits the maximum mark..

i dont see any reason why AC wont work on a mehran. the situation ghuncha is talking about is hilarious...driving with water bottles....and putting them in at intervals...lol

use a good quality coolant instead of water for your radiator...check the rad hose...it should be in top shape cuz thats what keep the engine cool.

your drive performance may be affected...as someone said before when using CNG and AC...but who cares...it is more important to keep yourself cool and your car clean from all the dirt by closing your windows than getting somewhere faster.

    @szuberi
come on yaar mehran is already a low powered car and with ac on cng... u gotta be kidding...
and the bottles i kept wasent used as a coolant, water was poured on the engine and radiator t cool it down....
i am telling you about first hand experience.....
go and ask any ac mehran owner and he'll tell you.

AC in mehran WORKS. I have recently up graded my mehran running on CNG and it works fine and mind u both r not factory fitted. i think its all setting of engine and good fiting. Also keep ur car in good condition. Temp do not shoot as with AC fan is auto on and when switched off it is on termostate so no question of over heating.

AC in mehran is the biggest failure one could ever face...
my friend had an ac cng mehran and it was like a rickshaw...
he got rid of that bloody mehran for Rs 4 lakh 1 thousand.

    Salams ppl..
I've got a AC+CNG mehran, i am realy into cars and stuff and every friend of mine thinks that i've got the best mechanic so no question of car setting or radiator etc not working properly..
I also happen to carry 2 bottles of water.. what i do is that i when i drive 15 mins including signals and traffic jams whenever i stop i have to pour sum water over my radiator otherwise the it over heats.. only way is to turn off ac whenever ur car is stopped like signals etc.. or use water.. its a disaster.. forget abt overtaking.. not even rikshaws.. its a nightmare.. i am repenting after selling my suzuki sedan ..
& one more thing i've even got my fan to be running all the time to support the ac so that when i switch ac off it can cool down quickly but still its like "It barely works.. better than not having the ac at all.. but has a lot of shitty probs"

Ghuncha....man...i do trust you but you tell me, is it sensible to pour water over your car's radiator. I used to drive a suzuki fx back in the late 90s when i was in Karachi and never had this problem.

My suggestion to alto owners with this problem, look into upgrading your radiator. It seems that Suzuki is putting cheap quality radiators in altos/mehrans which is not capable of dicipating heat.

You guys are diving the mehrans so you know best. Can u put khyber's radiator in the mehran???

well check your hose pipes, check the engine auto coolant valve, direct the radiator fan and remember to place a relay for the fan(IMPORTANT)
Check That Condensor And Radiator Air Passage Pathway Is Clean

Change The radiator from 2 pipe type to 3 pipe type(pipes running from top to bottom in radiator).this alteration costs around rs.2500/- the radiator assembly bought and connected to old radiator tanks and voila 100% working radiator

    One more vital thing

Check that the thermostat installed in the passenger cabin
is working fine..it can be checked as if you turn your ac on it trips after sometimes(the Compressor)and then the A/c Turns On
    this function is important

i had suzuki mehran 2003 petrol . and it has simply no problem with its AC in slow traffic too. and it never got over heated. and needel never passed mid point. just check out you pipes and radiator that it must not have any leakage. now i am having 2005 cng mehran and it is also working fine. does not get over heated.
it is another point that mehran ac is not much power full and does not work well in extreme heat . atleast take 10 mins in hot sunny day to get normal . but what can you expect from an 796cc car.

omer...the problem is not with the car itself, its the AC components which are not of quality. if i was driving a mehran, i would invest in replacing all AC components and the radiator to a better quality one.

mehran is a great car...economical and fun to drive...the AC and cooling is a problem.

It can work with CNG, there are a lot of people driving mehrans with A/C on CNG, engine will loose some power but it work fine.
