    Question Engine Oil for Mehran.

    Hello,

As title suggest, I'm planning the change Engine oil. It will be very first engine oil change (as its new car), so what would be suggested from following:-

    1. Zic Synthetic?
    2. Caltex Havoline (Synthetic)?
    3. PSO Carient Normal (20W-50)
    4. Shell Mobil Oil Normal (20W-50)

Also can if I choose synthetic and would I be able to switch back to Normal Mobil Oil? What is the benefit of Synthetic over normal mobil oil?

    Regards!

As your car is new use shell helix plus 10w40 or zic 10w40 or havoline 10w30
stick to any one of the above mentioned oil and change regularly as mentioned in owners manual

zic A is good but Castrol Magnetic is still better. However, 3000 km is too low for ZIC A and waistage of money. It should b used for 4000 km at least...but money is urs and u can use it according to to ur will and choice!!

if u need to get your engine life increased than this oils capacity is maximum for 3000.
otherwise it stills more than 5000 km.But on getting it out check its condition.

sir, don't bluff! even zic people do not recommend it for 7000 km. Prior to last two oil changes i was a regular user of Zic for my 2010 Alto and changed it at 4000-4500 km. Despite this my engine got noisier. Castrol Magnetic made my engine smoother & less moisy. So I don't believe in APi-SN grede of Zic

    @ MUNZALEEN & Tahir Ahmad

    Dear Brothers,
ZIC A I was changing that oil on 5000 KM. But once I was going to Raheem Yar Khan on Daewoo, when i reached Bahawalpur terminal there I met with Mr. Ramzan Daewoo bus senior technician. i asked him about engine oil, he replied that Daewoo are using ZIC 5000 POWER (15W-40, CI-4/SL) and changing after 20000 KM. I amazed to hear that in diesel engine. After that I contact with technical department of ZIC Lubricants and asked them about ZIC A drain interval they recommend 8000 KM in normal conditions. Now this is the second time that I am changing it after 7000 KM.
Mostly shopkeepers recommend short drain interval to gain more business
Well may be you don’t have good experience with ZIC, but in my car giving excellent performance.

go for any reliable brand with viscosity grade 10W-40 ...i would NOT recommend thicker grade oils like 20W-50 for a new engine like yours...

i had used castrol magnetic 10w40 for about 2 years, its good oil give me good 2 years of running but some how from past 6 months, i felt after 3k engine starts giving extra noise which significantly reduced when i change oil ! some how i felt whether the quality is down or some other factors, btw car is 2006 city. So i switched to zic A 10W40 and felt the difference, car sound remains same till 5000 km., btw, i always change castrol and currently zic at 5k km, not more then that , sometimes if i am outa city then stretch it to 6k but not more then that but only twice i remember from past 3 years.
my suggestion, keep the air filter clean .... always, clean it even after 500 km if you feel u traveled in some dusty environment ! keep the breathing of car clean it will help with good mileage + keeps engine oil in good health too !!!!!

Mineral Oil like Formula, Hiflo, TMO,...etc, Which produce from Group II base oil there drain interval is 5000 KM.
Synthetic Oil like Magnetic, Helix HX7, ZIC A,...there drain interval is more then 5000 KM
If u change engine oil earlier, it doesn't mean that the oil have not a long drain period.

For my Mehran (CNG) since day one I have been using Shell Helix HX5 (the one that comes in yellow cans). Its been 8 years now and just completed 100k km .... and Masha'Allah had not faced any problem so far.
I change oil along with oil filter every 3000-3500km.

You can also try MICKING MAX Super Sm 10w-40 Fully Synthetic. or MICKING Multi SL 20w-50 Semi Synthetic. They are also good.
