    your mechanic is a moron.

the "chemicals" in coolant are for protection against rust and corrossion. The really oldschool coolants and the caltex version of the GM coolant are very effective de-rusters too - but you cannot find them in Pakistan now.

The modern coolants are HOAT coolants which are excellent in their job.

What you experienced is the blowout of some hole that was blocked by rust or something. In my opinion you should be thankful that it happened there and not on a highway when the vehicle would be doing high rpm and speed.

Mechanic dont know about coolant i think..It is better you go for only Nasa brand super coolant which is the best and more economical in prices and its ready to use..further do not use concentrated coolant like caltex or any other costly brand as it is concentrated and as per international recomandation never use concentrated coolant.if you use concentrated coolant you have to mix water to dikute it.The use of water is strictly prohibited to use in the radiator as it has minerals and salts which causes rust and corrosion.so in coolant only demineralized water should be use which is free from any mineral or salt. and we normally cant get demineralized water from the market to dilute in concentrated coolant. The Nasa coolant is cost around 170 per lit.
i have also tried osaka and vislee coolant which is purly a tap water with mixing of green colour.so pls refrain from such type of cheap coolant which are only minting money.
