Default Mehran EURO II Fuel Consumption Issue

    Salaam PWs,

I recently purchased a slightly used Mehran 2014, invoiced in April. There is nothing special or appealing in this car that convince you to buy it, except its widely acclaimed fuel economy.
This was the only factor that made my mind.

Before buying, I gone through all threads related to Mehran's Economy, on this forum, and found that 14-16Kmpl is the average Mehran gives.

But unfortunately my car, which is 5000Km driven, is giving very unsatisfactory and disheartening fuel average.
It gives roughly 9 kmpl in city condition, where as my City Aspire 1.5 is giving 11Kmpl with A/c on.

It has gone through its periodic check-up last week, and I am gonna take it tomorrow again to dealership for this issue.

Experts , pls shed some light over this issue.

assuming your vehicle is without modifications running on stock wheels & tyres you need to check by changing the fuel station, 11 Km/litre is very common for euro 2, drive with light foot which need practice after driving a bigger sedan with more engine power

Sir, frankly speaking, this all 16 kmpl or 20 kmpl is not more then a story...the fuel average of city 1.3 and 1.5, corolla 1.3 n mehran is almost same...very lill difference..my old 2005 city gives 11-12 kmpl in city with AC in heavy traffic and on long route like motorway with AC and full load , with a light foot it gives 20+ kmpl...new city is more economical by the way...

How do you measure the average/consumption?

Then I must be a fairy tail character I m getting 17-17.5 km/l in city driving without AC and I drive with light foot. With 50-65% AC usage I'm getting around 15-16 km/l. What people usually try to do is drive the tiny mehran like a civic or corolla and then they say it gives less mileage. It should be driven like what it is.

Almost everyone in Pakistan is doing corruption to the extent they can. Our leaders are doing at the level they can do. So why should we complain?

    Its all stock.
Im not fond of rapid acceleration , I always keep light foot on pedals except in some cases. 30-40 kmph , thats my top speed in city driving
11 ? Thats too low, at lest for me

    @zia1288
When I bought this car, the dealer told me to refuel it immediately , it was near to end.
I got 24 Liters of petrol and marked the initial reading.
15 days passed , 220 Km driven after first refuel. The fuel gauge was below the line, I thought , there must be an error with it, I wasnt expecting that its giving true information. Khair... I kept on driving , and after 5Km of drive it finally stopped.
So in total 225 Km were driven in 24 Liters, giving a pathetic and unpalatable average of 9.37kmph.

    Thats how I measured it

I went to Suzuki dealership today to get this crap inspected.
The service adviser was much reluctant to accept that its giving under 10 average.
Later he advised the Mechanic to draw out the petrol , and empty the tank.
After that, he filled 1 liter of petrol , took me along to check how much distance it covers.
MashAllah right after 6 Kms , it stuck at the middle of main road. lol at the advisers who looked so embarrassed.
Khair we returned to workshop , pata nahi what they did with it for an hour, and overhanded me the car and said we have adjusted its tappets and everything else is fine. You may re fill the whole tank and do mark its reading.

While the car was getting a treatment I had a chit chaat with its sales manager.
He was saying the Government is not helping us , they are not putting up more stricter tariffs on imported cars blah blah.

I think Pakistan auto industry seriously need to think about its production, from Economic stand point , they are way inefficient.
Or else they are taking the benefit of being a monopoly in smaller consumer cars.
It is import tariffs that are protecting and supporting our ailing Auto Industry otherwise it would have vanished long ago.

My Khaalu , recently bought swift automatic.
He was much disappointed with the fuel average it was giving.
He said i Bought this car, keeping in mind its small size thus better fuel average.
But he said his Civic Prosmatic 2013 and Swift are giving almost same average of 11Kmpl.

That really depends on many factors. Tire pressure, warming up technique, ac usage etc.

    Won't go into many details.
