    Question Mehran Brakes Issue

Hi Guys this the first post here so I dont know if it the best place to post his issue or mods you can move it to more appropriate thread.

Have to push the break paddle the way and break performance is not good lately.

Lets tell you the series of events. The hand break indicator light was turning on getting it checked the Suzuki dealership mechanic told that the break fluid is low (potential cause could be worn pad so he would check them and service them or replace them)

He checked said abhee guzara chalay ga 5000km aur chala layain and toped the oil (It has around 40,000 kms) the breaks were ok but after 2-3 days the a tried to apply breaks and they were almost having no effect (had to push allll the way down and very low griping).
I went back and he bleed some oil and the pedal cam backup again.

Now after 3-4 days the same issue is there he is saying the issue is with the Master cylinder (and according to suzuki dealership (master Motor DHA) it would cost around 16-17k.)

The mechanic is also saying that maybe I should try puting some new sealsint he cylinder from some outside workshop (would cost around 1k for the seals and labour aur agar kaam chal jayee to theek warna get a new master cylinder from bailgang)

I somehow feeel the kid messedup something while servicing the brakes instead of this issue

I am completly noob at this mechanical stuff can any one suggest a good mechanic /workshop for this and explain what could be the issue.

I friend was saying maybe should a booster installed in the car is would help with the sponggy brakes.

    Thanks

if your brake pedal is not tight and you were experiencing the low fluid level warning (hand brake light) while driving then your system is leaking or the level went so low that there is air in the unit.

How old is the brake fluid (its supposed to be changed out every year - specially if you live in Karachi).

check for leaks - check the rear slave cylinders (wheel cylinders) and the fronts for signs of leaks. If you dont see any leaks then your master cylinder has air in it or has torn up piston seals, If it has air you cannot bleed this air from the wheels - the master cylinder needs to be bled itself then all the pipe fittings installed and all wheels bled.

for bleeding - please note a picture in this thread - Its my own car and my own self working on it. The bleed bottle is placed so that the bottle is above the caliper and brake fluid is in the pipe - this prevents air from being sucked back as the pedal is released - make absolutely sure that the brakes are being bled this way - If they are not then you can pump 20 litres of brake fluid through the wheel and it wont remove all the air.

Thanks for the detailed reply Xulfiqar Bro.

The fluid has not been changed anytime ( it has around 40,000 km millage but over 5 years)

He bleed only the 2 (front) wheels while pumping and pressing the pedal while his assistant opened the valve.

So do you think the fluid should be flushed and replaced with new one or should I opt to get new seals for the master cylinder or any way to make sure what is the underlying cause of the issue

And any recommendations for any good mechanic who can do it in the proper way (so that there is no air in it).

    Thanks

    16-17k ka master cylinder?

    gold ka bana hai kiya?

genuine japanese cylinder will not cost more than 3-4k. taiwanese will cost about 2k.

rear wheel cylinder will cost at MAX 1k each.

rather than experimenting just replace the cylinders.

or if you can diy. you need to open up the master cylinder to see whats wrong. is there pitting in it or the internal surface is smooth??

bilkul theek nahi hai... either you are using really bad break pads that wear out in 300km, or you have a leak in the system

you need to check for leaks at all 4 wheels. and all the brake lines.

install new pads and then check brake oil level. top it up at that time.

as pads wear out, the brake oil level will reduce slowly.

however when you push the caliper back in to install new pads the fluid level will come up.
