    AOA respected members..
I am a student and I have a budget of Rs.4-4.5 lac to buy a suzuki mehran. Please tell me that which year mehran is best in fuel consumption and good AC (which would make this summer bearable)?

I ll be thankful for the suggestions

    WHY SO SERIOUS???

Look for a Mehran Euro-II with a few touch ups, it must fall right in your budget. Look for FF A/C. There's news that it works pretty well.

Why not a coure or santro? They have much better Ac than Mehran and probably better fuel economy and in the case of Santro then obviously better power.

If you want AC and comfort then mehran is not the thing. You can get decent Suzuki Margalla Toyota Corolla 1986-1988 Honda Civic 1990-1995. If you have parking space then these cars are good to go and consumption is also nearly same as mehran but overall better then mehran.

Brother, if I were you, I would just get a good (oldie but well kept ) Mercedes diesel

    Pros

    1. Safety
    2. Very LOW diesel consumption
    3. GOOD AC

    Cons of Mehran

    1. AC is useless
    2. Every time it goes into a pot hole or ditch something gets bent
    3. Gets STOLEN a lot (show your parents Pakwheels forums)
    4. NO safety

I know it will be hard to convince your parents but sometimes you have to "explain" the factors and reasons and they will understand.... I know it is a LONG shot but does not hurt to TRY.........

its better to look for a Alto in your budget. Specially if AC is a priority
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

New mehran are very uncomfortable due to additional leaf spring (kamaniya) I would say get a Khyber margalla is a tough car but not as comfortable and economical as Khyber

100 % agreed , lekin if you take a paper and pen and sit down in a room all alone and "CALCULATE" the expense of a MEHRAN, you will soon realize ke the maintenance is worth more than the car itself......

In city for student mehran is the best. ...once u r on the job buy any car u wish...dont put burden on ur parents. ..i also had a mehran when i was in college n i lived to tell the tale...there is no end to anything...u buy an old junk like civic corolla merc n ull end up making freindships with khardya wala, radiator wala, and the list will go on. Buy a good mehran n wish u best of luck

    Please don't misguide the student.
Who told you that Carby Margalla, 86 Corolla or 95 Civic are fuel economical cars?
These old carby cars are fuel guzzlers. The new Mehran Euro II gives a superb fuel economy.
I have bought one in Feb 2015 as a kitchen car. Although there are quality issues but its giving a fuel avg of 16-17 Kmpl in city drive with a very good engine response. Buying a three decade old car isn't a clever option, you will waste a lot of time and money in repairs.

Every car has pro &con's under your budget. Some have spare costly , some low power ac , some have low mileage. Analyze as per your needs Chev joy , 2001-2003caltus , 2008 or below mehran(new Ac installation may be required). Don't go over 1000cc

A well maintained khyber will give really good fuel consumption with ac in city. I would say the same about margalla as a friend is getting good consumption. All it requires is a good maintenance history and the figures will surprise you...
