Lightbulb Suzuki Mehran speedometer gear issue

    Salam to all Pakwheelers.

Yesterday i noticed that speedometer needle of my mehran is not working. So i checked the cable and speedometer but to my surprise both of them were fine. When is moved my car to check the speedometer sending unit so called gear was not working. Now what to do guys. How to change the inner unit.If someone knows anything about it please help me.First of all i need to know how to open it,because i consulted two mechanics and one them told me that gearbox needs to be opened for that.
Waiting for some automobile seniors opinion.

Same problem was seen. I opened up the wash board area and removed the meter. The gears assembly was out to order. Gears are made of plastic and worn out. However my attempt to restore it to working order proved to be temporary. The gear wheel assembly parts have to be replaced. But so far I could not get them replaced. The speedometer is working showing speed variations as per speed. However the unit number has been stuck and would show milage travelled. That is it!!!
It is quite simple procedure to take out the speedometer from the front panel. In your case perhaps you could get working.

It has cheap plastic gears in the speedometer which tend to wear very quickly the only option is to remade those gears with accurate precision, here in Sargodha there is only one guy who makes these gears with plastic, actually he is a former VCR and Tape Recorder mechanic, if you guys remember old VCRs and Tapes use to had plenty of small plastic gears, i think you guys should search for some guy like him in ur city to get the gears remade or buy new speedo cluster.

It's high time that company replaced mechanical devices to electronic with digital displays. This would be smaller and more accurate.

Alas I cannot comment on it. Suzuki Mehran has many problems of noise. The metal body work quality is very poor. So the car will be noisy when ever it goes to workshop.
