    Default Radiator fan/Cold-Hot needle

Dear all...i just bought a mehran 2 days back. Car is in mint condition and just 26500km genuinely driven. The fan was direct and i had to make it on automatic. When it was direct, the needle always remained attached to C mark even when i have driven it for 15kms. But after making it automatic, the needle moves to middle after few minutes of running and then stays at the position shown in second pic - that is in the green zone but around 75% away from C. We have a liana and xli too and both cars have fixed needles at exact half way mark all the time between C and H.

So, is the 75-80% deviation ok in mehran? I am talking for non ac running conditions. Fan is kicking on and off perfectly as i observed it myself and comes up all the time when ac is turned on.

First pic is of starting the car in the morning today. Second and third ones are on reaching office at II Chundrigar road (around 15km).

After around 1 week of usage, i must say mehran is really a good car! Small, compact, too too basic, no shashkas, and really reliable if kept nicely

    Default mehran's bleeder bolt's position

a friend's '15 mehran vxr got overheeated a week ago. he drives about 15 km 4 days a week and the car's 1500k on the odo. anyway, he got it replenished with normal water and noted considerable fall in the radiator bottle. today we took it to a dealership. a pipe had a slight leakage which i guess came with this brand new car from the factory. [observing the tear pattern]
the mechanic there has filled it with water again and advised to run it on it for a day to ensure there is no leakage and that the car ain't drying up.
i repeatedly urged him to bleed air out of the system but he said there is no such need and that mehran doesn't have a bleeding bolt. to my surprise he believes there can be no air in the system once topped up.
so, dear experts, could you please advise as to where the bolt is exactly located and how do i bleed air out of the system. i have noted idling issues and the car has been heating up more than the operating temp.

ps. called toyota's dealership to inquire regarding the bleeding, they also claimed that there is no need to bleed the system. @Xulfiqar sir, i'll be grateful for your help

Please confirm if you are using ''COOLANT'' and please also confirm if the bleeding process of cooling system has been done.

air bubbles left inside the cooling system (radiator or pipes) cause all sort of malfunctions if the system is not bled the right way.

i was in the same sort of situation where i had to go through some youtube videos and i changed my coolant with new and did proper bleeding which sorted it all .

No need to bleed what ? You need to properly bleed cooling system otherwise be ready for huge repair bills

If water is being constantly reducing and the temp needle crosses the mid point, there could be an issue of a leaking head gasket. Sorry for this brand new car if this is true. See the engine oil if water is mixed with it - any signs of water vapour will confirm the case. Probably, the car is run for long with low water levels. Gasket can be a gonner even with a petty issue like a hairline crack in a hose pipe or radiator..get a second opinion by going to a local good mechanic (not 3s).

actually, apparently the car wasn't roughed up dry. first shot is the leaking pipe. we got that replaced. but my understanding is that when the car was initially topped up after it ran dry, air entered the system. the air and the tiny leakage of the pipe caused the radiator to reduce water [though not fully] this must have resulted in the needle moving past the middle point but not to H.

could you confirm if the above could be true?

also, how do we bleed out air. the dealership refilled the system with plain water [they didn't have coolant]. they have no idea about burping. [i guess they do know how to burp after nihari]

exactly my point. the dealership [olympic motors zahoor elahi lahore] says they have no idea how to bleed air out of the cooling system. they have never heard of it and that they have never bled a cooling system.

if you think it's not a technical job and i'd be to locate the bleeder bolt, and bleeed it out without pro funnels and equip, please guide me. it's a damn brand new car with just 1500km on the odo. such an irony

Needle should not cross the mid mark at any cost. If crossing, it must be cuz of a bad radiator fan (not coming up at right time) or too low levels of radiator fluid.

If car is run with too low water levels, then do have the gasket checked.
