yar i have 93 model mehran as well as cherry qq. both on petrol and both produce equal cooling . may be, you are expecting more from a small 800cc outdated car. shift to larger 1100 cc car if you really want hi performance ac.

@theboss. Bro i was away for few days. your idea about spraying water on condenser is good, i hv tried it on my past ride charade but it needs more storage equipment than normal because in hot water evaporates very fast.
Moreover you need to refill more frequently. I guess a flat wider condensor placed properly will heal the problem. I have done it in the same car and it did worked very well. infact I did compare it with 2 charade cars of almost same condition.
For mehran i hv seen in lhr some ppl mounted the condenser on the roof of the car its bigger than the normal size but it sucks the outlook. what is the performa of such car's a/c has anyone got info on that?

Spray doesn't need to function continusly. Install 50C electric thermostat on condenser outlet to control spray on/off cycle. When the gas is not being effectively cooled by condenser, it is indicated by high discharge temperature causing the thermostat to flip on. The spray duration will hardly last 5-10 seconds but will bring temperatures considerably down. 5-7 liter water jacket should last you full day on a proper spray system.

If you have a an AC tech to assist, you can route the refrigerant return line via water jacket. Waste cooling of return line will chill water reducing consumption and improving efficiency.

Regarding water pumps, high pressure head lamp washer pumps from 4x4 are available in shersha for 300-400 RS. Just don't try educating the guy or he may ramp up the price.

R-290 is only sold for commercial purpose therefore may not be available in small quantity. Another alternate to R12 is R12a. Being an HC blend, it exhibits properties similar to R-290 but is available in small containers.

    - Lower head pressures
    - High latent heat capacity which leads to increased air con performance. Especially noticeable in peak hot season.
    - Less power drain on car engine.

When converting from CFC to HC blend refrigerant, there is no need to pull vacuum. You can add HC a top of existing CFC and they will mix. When charging by weight, 3oz of R12=1oz of R12a so do remember u only need to charge 1/3 of required R12 capacity.

A word of warning as usual, do remember all HC refrigerants are highly flammable so safety first always.

If it interest you to know, R-290 is really refined LPG (pure propane). You can charge LPG in your AC but its not really refined up to refrigeration standards therefore any excessive impurities may destroy your compressor.

BTW, mounting a condenser on roof affect aesthetics and kill your aero dynamics Resultant drag created at cruising speeds may be enough to take off Mehran's roof

    Function of water spray:
Evaporation causes cooling. Water in form of mist will evaporate in air cooling down whatever surface it evaporates from. Go wet your face and sit under fan. Feel cool?? same principle. Fine water mist sprayed on your AC condenser absorbs its heat and evaporates into air taking the heat away leaving surface cooler. Guys, open your high school physics book and read chapters on evaporation.

You wet skin when exposed to air feels cold because evaporation is accelerated by air velocity. How does sweat keep our bodies from over heating???

If you guys can bring your cars and required parts, we can do this job together. Parts are available in shersha. I don't know anyone in Lahore or else i would refer. In fact i don't know anyone in Pakistan. First time visitor.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evaporation

    @Beamers
May be your system was engaged non-stop which is simply waste of water. Optimum discharge temperature at correct operating head pressure should be 35-40C. Above that, your AC performance suffers and cooling capacity goes down. Below that, and your head pressures may fall too low to sufficiently vaporize liquid in evaporator.

I can tell you a person who is not a mechanic but he excels in any machine which contains a compressor. He is actually an electrician but he knows the function of a car A/C very well as there is no difference in basic principles of a room A/C and a Car A/C. This idea of installing a custom made water spray system was suggested to me by him.
