    Thats great if they install the spacers, and at no extra charge too. Goes to show good customer service.


    Do keep in mind that the cars were designed for a different country and here in Pakistan, well, you know how it works. Still, the numbers you gave for adequate ground clearance is very interesting as I didnt know its that low.


    Hope you enjoy the Saga and welcome to the club that breaks out of the mould of our desi mindsets by buying "no-resale" cars.

    Thanks all.
    seems like I was too optimistic about the free spacer installer got charged Rs1400/ After a few days with the car and overcoming the idiosyncrasies of Proton

    Pros:
    - Nice big car
    - Get nice stares
    - Decent boot space
    - Decent front legroom. (did not sit in the rear)
    - Seats are nicely adjustable
    - Engine very responsive above 1.8K RPM
    - Gears are smooth (except for reverse)
    - Going to 100Km/Hr is a breeze even with loaded car
    - Effortless overtaking
    - Decent handling
    - Many goodies for which you otherwise end up paying with accompanying aftermarket installation problems like a) Front Power Windows, b) internally adjustable mirrors, c) Power locks, d) security alarm, e) Reverse parking sensor

    Cons: (some are just observations valid for any car)
    - Manual recommends 97RON petrol, I doubt if anyone would put that one here.
    - Steering is smooth but without road feel (feedback)
    - Rear visibility (while reversing) is low. I guess that would be the case for the new Corolla with the high rear seats and trunk as well
    - A/C controls and vents seem like they are broken but actually they are providing too little feedback
    - Should provide rear cargo mat and/or full covering board in trunk, instead of the partial board
    - The lightly shaded mirrors and glasses make it easy not to notice traffic on the sides.
    - As is usually the case with reverse parking sensors they have a mind of their own
    - Lousy sound system
    - Printing on the instrument cluster dials is not sharp nor attractive.
    - Reverse gear can sometimes be rather hard to engage
    - There is some hesitation and pinging which the Service Centre says would be taken care of at 1000Km tune up.
    - With all other new high seated vehicles around, you would feeel hmmmmmm peculiar (hehe)
    - The black colour is a big dust magnet. Can't keep it clean for more then a few hours. True for all black cars. looks sleek though

    Verdict: I am satisfied as in a small amount this car provides quite a lot. If it works trouble free for 3 years then that would be great, and then I may get the Proton Persona when it is launched here. I expected flimsy controls, plasticky interior etc, so I am not disappointed. Don't compare it to a City/ Liana and you would feel satisfied too. The only car to compare with is any car which is about 700,000Rs.
    My reasons for buying included.
    3 years warranty
    Cultus has stupidly designed boot
    Cultus handling is dismal
    Cultus driver seats are BAD
    Nice goodies mentioned above
    Above all the sales person Mr. Sohail was nice and knowledgeable.

    The new Saga has not been launched yet, this is the older one.


    Considering that the Cultus with EFI (Suzuki Swift Gen II / MK II) was launched in 1990 in USA this did not come into consideration.


    Although it is true that it looks a bit dated,. the redesigned back make it look different then the Lancer.


    The pics that I took turned out bad, so posting some screenshots of the brochure instead.


    By the way Royal Automobiles managed to get the worst angle shot in their brochures

    Borris Bhai! umeed hai key app khariyat sey hongai.....baat darasal ya hai key jab may ney apni Proton gen-2 le ti, tu wo karachi key road key liyaz sey nechey te, aur allah ka shukar hai key who zamin sey nahi lagee; all bata main ney us ke allow rims ko change kar waya....aur league key 15' our 65 profile key tire daley jis see ghari arnd 7 cm uth gayi, phir since ghari mey cng bhi lagi thi, meray personal mechanic ney meray ghar pey he us mein 1.5 inch key special spacers lagaye.....aur ghari key handling performance pey zara be effect nahi aya...ab ghari aram sey speed breakers ko cross karti hai, aur speed mey kerb / turn negotiating main koi masla nai........aur doosri bath jab tek ke aapki saga nechey hai; sab sey bathreen tarika ghari bachaney ki ye hai key aap spead breakers ko angle sey approach karain; matlad ke 1 wheel ko turn pey breaker sey lekher jain......aap ki ghari nahi lagay gi.....
