    Default Suzuki Liana

    Hello all,

I'm really in a mood to buy a Suzuki Liana (RXI) - second hand but wherever I go and whoever I ask they all say that the car is not good and that I shouldn't buy it. Uptil now I havn't been able to get a full and complete answer to this. Pretty much everyone has given me no reason at all for saying that the car is bad but have only said its BAD, thats it.

Also one thing that I have heard however is that its engine is weak and its hard to find a mechanic who knows the car well enough.

Is this true and are there any other reasons why I should not buy this car?

The other option would be Cultus (but please don't talk about that, only focus on Liana).

Thanks a lot and would love to know your answers!

Liana is not a bad car. It's true that most mechanics do not understand it's engine, but you wouldn't want to take your car to any tom, dick and harry anyway. Find a good mechanic that understands the car well and stick with him. Liana's build quality is not as good as Toyota or Honda but in my opinion they're crap as well. At least suzuki keeps the needs of its consumers in mind and provides company fitted CNG and Security System (which if you install in any of the Hondas or Toyotas will void your warranty, pathetic). I'd suggest you to go for LXI if your budget permits. Has a lot more options.
There's an issue of resale attached with Liana which is just because of the crowd's crazy mentality.

    Thanks for the reply guys.

I see, this seems to help a lot in making my decision.

Well if I buy Liana then I don't plan on selling it for at least 3-4 (maybe more) yrs or so, so resale isn't a concern for me at the moment. I can keep the car with me easily.

All I'm concerned about is whether its a durable car, and it would live for say more than 5yrs or so and won't give me any headaches in between, I plan on takeing it on long dives too...

Aside from the mechanics does its engine have any other problems for which people don't buy it that often? Internal problems of the car. Like A/C, Consumption/ Pick (Acceleration)/ Breaks etc. ?

Also how would you compare this car with Suzuki Cultus?

Finally, I have around 7.5 Lacs with me, should I buy Liana in this budet?

    Thanks!

Liana is a good car all it needs is a mechanic who undertsnads it and then works accordingly incase of any troubles.

@poster..... Liana is not a bad car at all..... its engine is superb... the pick is mind blowing.... the a/c is damn chilling..... as far as the resale is concerned... my dear brother... jab baleno launch hoe to log yehi kehtay thay k its a flop car bla bla..... Gradually with the passage of time im sure the car will capture the market and actually is as ive seen many people buying new liana and are SATISFIED with it..... well the parts would obviously be expensive as it is a luxury sedan..... even hondas and corollas parts are expensive too.... the car has hell lot of features.... im a 'proud' owner since 3 years and have not faced a single prob uptill now........ i would say its the best car ever made by PAK SUZUKI......... so go for it brother....... And yes i would suggest you to go for a brand new one... you can get it leased......
    Peace!!

You can get a 2007 model Liana in your budget. Liana is far better than cultus without the slightest bit of doubt. It might be a little expensive to maintain than cultus (higher token fee ) and like you already know, not every mechanic knows about it as they do about cultus. Besides these 2 points, there's simply no comparison. One weakness that Liana and Balena users have been complaining about is its poor pick in 2nd gear. Suzuki have recently introduced Liana VURV (RXI, LXI and Eminent models) which reportedly (as per dealers statements) counters this problem. Again, I would suggest you to go for a LXI.

    adnanaa35:

Liana has MPFI which although does not compare with VVTi or i-vTEC (both are proprietary technologies of Toyota and Honda) but for the common users, it suffices to say that it's much better and fuel efficient than carby. I'm not sure what you want from a VVTi/ i-vTEC engine (more torque perhaps) but for a family car MPFI is good.

    Shaboo1:

Can you please elaborate on "it's not good" part? City is a great car, but in 750k he can barely manage to get a 2003 city in islamabad. City's performace on CNG is questioned by many (especially the Vario models). City has a 1250cc engine while Liana has a 1320cc engine. Also, a 6 years old city will now start requesting trips to the mechanic and we know Honda is the most expensive car to maintain compared to Toyota and Suzuki.

Go for Liana. Its a nice car, though its mechanics r not easily available for Engine, AVoid Engine works for about 5 years, and always go to 3s, or 4s, suzuki dealer shop. It wont cost u much. ur budget is good enough, u can easily avail 2007-2008 model. As prices r down. Whereas its consumption is also good. it is paki made car and parts r easily available.

shaboo.... dear is garmi mai aapki so called city ka A/c he marr jata hai..... the pick is poor.. im saying this not because my friends fiends fiend owns it or complains about it but ive experienced it personally.... so comparing a city with liana is outta question buddy.....

my bro i will advice u to buy city 005 model as liana engine is really too weak and its parts cant bare the bumps on the road which are requently seen in pakistan however its road grip is also not good as its tyre are thin and slips easily. ofcourse second gear had little problem which sometime turn of f the car if its rpm is too low after kockings

so corolla or city of 005 or 007 is good choice
!!!!! Corolla is Not A ROLLA its a Pleasure !!!!!

correction adnaana... calling the parts expensive is not correct ere.... dude its a luxury sedan... im talking abt mine 1.6 auto version so obviously its parts are gonna b expensive... donts compare its parts prices with a mehran or an alto..... secondly i dont agree with you on this k g the engine needs extra care... i own this for the last 3 years and have 3 more in my family..... ab tak to koi prob nai aaye meray bhai.... aur rahe baat mechanics ki ... to y da hell are 3s dealers for... desi mechanics dont know a single ichi bichi abt it uptill now........ so going to the sarak chaap mechanics is like killing your car with your own hands.....Apart from the routine maintenance the car has never been to the workshop...... What else do you want from the car???? excellent pick, chilling A/C,excellent millage of 12km trouble free performance.... that is it... which the car is giving !!!!!!!
